How Old is your Daily Driver?
My DD is a 2000 Honday Odyssey with 146K. I've only had it two years and it's pristine. It was my son's car up until he left for college. I recently sold my 2002 Civic Si that I used for 15 years. The van serves my needs just fine. I had purchased a weekend fun car last May (2001 911) that checks the midlife crisis box.

My wife's DD is a 2014 Nissan Rogue. It's fine.

Thread drift. My oldest brother inherited our father's 1936 Ford pickup. All stock. It's currently in storage while my brother build his retirement house in the Cedar City area.

138,000 on my DD, 2009 Chevy HHR it is my dog hauling vehicle and it's been super reliable and fun to drive, but have been thinking of trying to find a newer Ram 1500 express regular cab shortbed to replace it.

2001 Chevy S10 with 112k on it currently for a daily. It's probably past the point where sane people would've traded it, but I'm still fixing it as necessary. Midwest winter salt has pretty much started eating it up, so I'm figuring I'll have to upgrade after this winter.

Three weeks old, a 2023 Honda Ridgeline.
My employer provides a stipend + mileage for a vehicle as I cover companies in four states.
The hit is that I can only keep it 4 years or 160k miles, whichever comes first.

So far, so good. Has 300 miles on it. Big Grin

Fun car is a ‘21 VW GTI SE that sits in the garage for most of the year.

I read that the average car payment is now like $600-$800? That is just insane.

My wife was pissed that we have a $350 car payment. She wanted it to be lower but that's what we were able to get in mid-2020.

I'll never spend more than $30k for a car again. Whatever I buy, used or new, it will be less than $30k with a target of $20k. I'm not rich and I really regret the opportunity/investment I missed when I bought my prior cars. But for those decisions, I could probably retire 2-3 years earlier.

Cars are lasting longer, and for more miles, but unfortunately at much higher prices.
I can remember when a car loan was typically 3 years and never more than 5 years. Now, that's common.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

If you want a vehicle with more than a 4cyl turbo, you're paying $60k at a minimum.

If the 355 sees DD duty, you sir are the winner.
Thought you had a 308 for some reason.

Former neighbor at our first house [starter home neighborhood] had a 91 348 Spider [Gated 5MT] and a 99 355F1 Spider.
Never did score a ride in either.

My new Ridgeline was $41k with a NA V6. One of the few such choices remaining … but they are out there.
