This was in the grocery today, not eating out, forgive me, but I saw Halibut in the fresh case for $34.99 per pound. About a year or so ago it was just over $20.00 a pound. Even crappy Tilapia was $7.99 per pound. As far as eating out, one of our favorite places, named Red Rock Canyon Grill, had a fantastically good salad for $6.00 that would serve 3 people. Now it is $9.00 and has shrunk so much it barely is a salad for 1 person, if that much. .

Wife ordered Chinese takeout last night. Used to be $25. Check was $70. I about shit a brick. We definitely wont be partaking in restaurants and takeout as much as we used to. Some nights its just some cereal with milk or a sandwich. If this inflation keep going the same direction, I would bet that 25% of American restaurants will fail in the next 2 years. Rent is up. Interest rates are up. Fuel is up. Hell my homeowners insurance just went up $1000. Last year it went up $1000 too. My car insurance just went up $750. More and more cost, less pay, people have less discretionary money to spend. Restaurants are going to see less and less of those discretionary dollars. I guess printing money over and over again is going to finally bite us in the ass. The end game here is the complete collapse of the dollar (eventually), followed by a global famine, war, disease, starvation, and then finally, a reset and start over. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Absurd is the right word, in fact the perfect word. We are watching our savings burn right now. Inflation is damaging, stagflation is crippling, I fear we are on our way there. Now that the de facto min wage is now $15, what's the next step, $20? Shit's just getting silly at this point. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

The fast food places are hammered. McDonald’s near me barely has staff so using the kiosk in the lobby to order is mandatory. Can not order through a human. And then its 10-12$ to get a meal. Took my boy to Waffle House the day after school let out. $25 pre tip for 2 plates and drinks.

I paid $29 plus tip at Texas Roadhouse for a 14oz Prime Rib and sides and iced tea yesterday. I don't eat out very often with prices up and the cost of diesel going to and from, but dang, that Prime Rib was good! CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

Have you made a pizza at home recently? Pre-made dough from Publix - $2.99 One bag shredded cheese - $3-$4 depending on brand and sale Sauce - $3-$5 depending on brand So you are easily in $10 for just a cheese pizza. Add in some veggies and pepperoni and it's closer to $15. Damn, now I am depressed that I have actually done the math on this.

In Costco yesterday. They had Rainier cherries in stock. I love these cherries. And they only come out once per year. In the past a 2 lb container was $8.99. Somewhat steep, but I would treat myself to a container, sometimes two, over the month or so that I would see them in stock. Well, yesterday they were $14.99 for that same 2 lb container. I had to pass and leave them behind.

I have a rainier cherry tree and it will probably produce about 15-20 pounds of cherries this year. The trick is getting them before the animals. I looked on Wikipedia to find out when the cherries bloom. And that was one of the things mentioned, that up to 30% of the Rainier crop is consumed by animals.
