This conflict is officially over. For the first time in nearly 50 years the Strait of Homuz is no longer threatened by Iran and traffic is now flowing again. What can Iran do at this point other than issue empty threats?

^^^^^ Well, the strait can still be “threatened” by Iran.
President Trump recently declared that for every ship attacked one Iranian bridge or power plant would be destroyed. It’s not clear to me if that has happened since the declaration.

Wonder why the oil prices have not spiked even higher, apparently the Chinese have reached their plateau on oil. They are switching to EV vehicles even quicker now and apparently reducing their need for fuel yearly. Increased need for plastics and chemicals, are being offset by savings on fuel required for vehicles.

Good. Until a battery breakthrough occurs they are shooting themselves in the foot moving that direction and this is coming from someone who LOVES electric vehicles and has raced them in the past in actual sanctioned events.
I recently bought my first 15kw electric dirt bike and its power is mind blowing (Bugatti Veryon level of power to weight ratio) but until things change dramatically in the battery dept this tech is inferior to gasoline.

“This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale,” Trump wrote.
He announced that foreign countries who allow their financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities “to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences.”

Reuter reported on Monday that Iran is joining the BRICS development bank soon. Should be really interesting to see if these countries will continue to support Iran by their selling of US Treasuries and operating in their own currencies. Or if they will cut them off like the UAE did today. Interesting times indeed.

The Trump Administration Just Made a Major Move to Lower Gas Prices
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced Thursday that it is taking emergency action to expand the nation’s gasoline supply and help bring down prices for Americans.
Beginning September 1, the EPA will allow E10 gasoline to be sold at a higher Reid Vapor Pressure. The temporary waiver effectively ends the costly summer-blend requirement early, freeing up hundreds of thousands of additional barrels of gasoline per day for American drivers.
“President Trump has prioritized ensuring American families have affordable gasoline and energy. Throughout this administration, EPA has taken decisive action like issuing RVP waivers to provide relief at the pump and fortify our gasoline supply chain,” EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said. “Today, we continue this work with our federal partners to increase supply and lower gas prices for all Americans. Across the administration, we will continue to execute President Trump’s agenda and provide Americans with a prosperous and affordable nation.”

Zeldin has masterfully avoided the entire summer gasoline regulations (aka reformulated gasoline) this year and the country never had to implement summer gasoline (RVP 7.0 TO 9.0 psi) which saved taxpayers a lot of money this summer (i.e. it could've been worse). The oxygenates to make summer gasoline cost $0.12 to $0.19 per gallon wholesale price.
The new part twist today was an official earlier start of conventional gasoline season (i.e. no more serial temporary waivers) and waived state controls in Texas, Arizona and California.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement claiming the Trump administration is launching “a new wave of economic terrorism” against Iran under Operation Economic Outcast.
“Economic sanctions by the United States against Iran, regardless of their name or title, are completely illegal and illegitimate actions that violate the United Nations Charter, international humanitarian law, and human rights,” the statement read. “On this basis, all countries are obligated to refrain from implementing such sanctions.”
“In continuation of its hostile and illegal policies against Iran, the U.S. government unveiled a new wave of economic terrorism under the title ‘Operation Economic Outcast’ against Iran on Monday... which amounts to U.S. state terrorism against Iran and the world,” the statement added.
“While condemning U.S. economic terrorism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the determination of the Iranian nation to utilize all capacities to defend the homeland against military, economic, and hybrid aggression,” it also said.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Monday that under President Donald Trump’s direction, “the United States Treasury has begun Operation Economic Outcast – an unprecedented campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its enablers.”
“Beginning today, the actions of Treasury and other agencies will tighten the noose and block every potential source of revenue that funds the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian regime. We are enforcing a zero-leakage approach,” Bessent added. “There will be no minimal breathing space for the regime to rebuild its capacity to inflict terror against America and the world.”
