Fortunately it's an option, not a requirement. If you have one you'll be able to use it here.

TigerDoreWe live in a nation where "poor" people are too burdened to get a $20 photo ID making voter identification a racist concept, but they are not too burdened to spend several hundred dollars a year on a license plate.

braillediverJust something else to be hacked. I don't understand the fascination with technology when simple works- Like the stamped steel license plate.
I bet the real objective is to have a government transmitter on all cars so they can tax the vehicles for usage by the mile.

The state of Michigan is working with Reviver Auto, creators of the first and only digital license plate, to roll out the plates to interested parties.
Reviver Auto’s digital plate, the Rplate, debuted on California roads in mid-2018 and offers a number of benefits over traditional stamped plates. A digital plate can automate the vehicle renewal process, replacing legacy stickers with digital decals and eliminating the need to visit your local tax collector’s office or submit a request by mail.
So only one company is authorized or can even produce the plates? what could go wrong there?
Saves a trip to renew? Or put the new sticker on the plate? Online renewal takes a minute or two. Putting the new sticker on the plate? that is too much effort for some these days?
Promoting interests? So I cam change the plate to SIG? Probably not as living in Epping would mean half the town would have the same plate.

shovelheadIn Michigan we can do online renewals, mail ins, at a Secretary of State office either walk in or by appointment or if just a sticker renewal at kiosks that are 24 hour accessible at S of S offices.
Digitals, another gimmick for those with more money than common sense. And, I wonder how soon before shops are opened in the more economically depressed areas aka Flint, Saginaw,Detroit et al that will rent to own these plates like they do wheels and tires.
