These senior living facilities, the good ones anyway, have 12 and 15 names on waiting lists to get in to. $3,800. Per month and it goes up from there. One lady here started at $4,600.00. The good news is the facilities are easy to build , the bad news is they have giant staffing problems. ( At least in our general vicinity) Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Bendable, I’m sorry about your friend’s situation, and I suppose I should try to elaborate on my earlier post in the thread. I was with my wife 12 hours a day, for the final 18 months of her life, in one of the best nursing homes in San Antonio, looking after her and advocating for her. I’ll just say it was a good thing I was able to be there. Some of the staff were excellent and some were terrible. I witnessed some unpleasant incidents involving other residents who didn’t have advocates. I’m relieved the details are fading from my memory. The decision to move to one of those horrible places isn’t something I feel comfortable pressuring anyone to make. I plan to avoid spending my final days in one, if possible.

I understand your perspective , my elder sibling just went through an unfavorable three weeks with his wife in a " memory care" unit in a well thought of place in eastern Iowa. Her Alzheimer's made it a necessary move. But,! The upside. My sibling found an RN that agreed to come to his home for 24 hours per week, For 1/3 the cost of the care facility. He is overjoyed at the outcome. And his wife is 90% happier Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

I have seen these places and my Aunt was in one for a short time. Even the good ones are not like being at home and are not that good. I will die here in my home.

He needs help, and his health ain't getting better. Did you tell him this? He needs a good friend to sit him down and tell it like it is. Not sure if that is you?

He managed many people for 25 years. He was either the top boss or the co- top boss. He never had to compromise with a wife or significant other. Two relatives ,three friends and two ex employees have offered him alternate living opportunities . Since it wasn't his idea, they were all wrong. I am sure it must be a scary Decision, new a different things are . Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

Under the right conditions I would have no problem moving . It's just a house . It's not a family heirloom . It's full of " stuff ". Most of which I don't need .
