Define "did well".

In the 2026 test, two of four sucking, one performing OK, and the Griot's doing well does not mean the group did well. Of the ceramic coatings, the one was utter garbage and the other two were superior to the Griot's, but the Griot's did nearly as well. I was wrong when I said none of the spray on products did nearly as well. In reviewing all three videos before posting, I missed how well the Griot's did. Frown

I applied the Griots on anew Tesla Y when we got it in 2023 and it is just now getting to the point where I’m probably going to reapply a new coat. For my money that’s a win.

Now I don’t run my vehicles through a car wash at all if I can help it. I hand wash with a ceramic coating friendly wash.

I also garage my vehicles. If you park outside and run it through a car wash the length of time that a ceramic coating will last (any brand) will be severely reduced.

Yes, it's always the prep work. Last new car I got, it took me less than an hour to ceramic coat it (i used mohs evo this time). The 7 hours before I coated the car was prep work and paint correction.

Previous used car I got, it was about 12 hours of prep and paint correction.

Not minority enough!

Let’s say I use the Griot’s, do I have to do the full prep work every time?

No. At minimum do a good wash with a soap that does not contain any wax or gloss enhancers. Adams Shampoo can do that and you can get a 16 oz bottle for not much. For first application consider applying iron remover to the paint (I use Maguairs) and then clay bar and then wash again.unless the surface is in really good shape. If you have a recently applied coat of wax or sealant then you should use a strip wash shampoo (such as Turtle Wax Max power at extreme concentration) first to try and remove those or do a polish after clay bar and that will remove them. Also important to try and keep your vehicle in a garage if possible for 12-24 hours after application to let it cure.
