I would like to praise my 16 year old daughter.
I have posted on here that she is a teenager and we clash from time to time. This morning however, she surprised me and warmed my heart.
Mom is away on business. It is me, daughter 16, son 4, dogs, and lots of firepower with choke points, so even though I am breaking opsec here, I think I am good.
Anyway, this morning was supposed to be very busy for me taking on the tasks that Mom generally does to get the children ready for the day and out the door. It wasn't. Without asking, my daughter had gotten her brother out of bed, fed him breakfast, dressed him and all that goes with that. I came out of my bedroom and noticed his door was open. I went to the living room and noticed both children ready to depart.
I asked: Do I need to do this or that? Daughter replied: Done.
I'm so proud of her today. I am going to reward her with something very nice or make her wish my command.
Thanks for reading.

It would appear that good parenting is producing the anticipated results. Good show!

My 19 yo son is quite a handful and always has been but sometimes they just melt your heart. He won a brand new bike at a raffle and since he already had a bike he just gave it to his little brother. Keep in mind these two kids argue constantly, but at 16 he got his first job and saved up enough for two rather expensive Cubs tickets. I asked why two seats and he said I’m taking my brother.
It's so wonderful to see them grow and become responsible and compassionate.
Well done, take a bow, she learned it from her parents!

It is very telling in that it means that she recognizes the work that you and your wife put into running the household. That says alot about her character to me. You seem to have raised her right.

You certainly have a right to be proud of her. Mature and responsible at 16 is quite laudable.

Excellent. The missus and I were out and about when she got a call from the school about my 15 year old son the other day. We were pleasantly surprised when she told us that he and another guy voluntarily cleaned up a mess in the cafeteria made by a big rowdy group. We were quite pleased.

Good girl. The conflict will pass. This shows that is merely normal teenage angst but that her heart is right.

Congratulations on reaping what you sow. Sounds like you have been doing parenting correctly!

That's awesome. You must be so proud of the fact that she took the initiative without any input from you.

You and your wife set her on that path.

Good job.

I’m glad to hear somebody’s doing it right. Mine just rammed the car I bought her a week ago into the trailer hitch on my truck tonight. I’ve had three fingers of Glenlivet and I’m still pissed.

He may not like it--probably doesn't; I don't--but he knows it's so, and knowing is the first step in coping with it."

It’s a car. She’s not hurt. Not everyone is so fortunate.

So I said to her yesterday afternoon: "You were so helpful this morning, I would like to reward you or do something nice for you."

She said "Brother was helpful as well. Let's go to 5 and Below (a store)."

I let them go wild in there and I think I spent less than 10 bucks. They got squirt guns, some gum, and bottled water.

So, now I am energized. I am going to pay it forward and do some extra chores before Mom comes home.

Great kids, even cooler that she didn’t take all the credit. Clearly loves her family. When I was 16, I was itching to get out the door to party when mom was out of town (in my defense, I was the youngest, so no one to take care of).
