2 Mothers and their 2 daughters die in horrific traffic accident in St Louis, MO area
This story has been getting much coverage in my hometown for the obvious reasons. The Prather family are members of my parish church, while the McCaw family are from my previous parish church. I didn’t know them personally, but had seen them at church functions.

They are being escorted from St Louis back to Louisville as I type this, with funerals probably on Thursday, but no details yet released.

I’ve linked this article from the Brit “Daily Mail” as it has a decent compilation of previous articles from our local news media. Pictures of the crash are horrific.

As you can expect, it has become very emotional for many in Louisville.

That is horrific. Prayers for everyone touched by this tragedy. Including those on the scene.. How terrible and avoidable.

I haven't found where the toxicology report on the F250 driver has come back or anything where he's been charged with anything, yet.

These stories are heart breaking for sure when time is taken to imagine the loss. Far worse is when it actually touches someone close. Several years ago Jr DF #4 lost a good friend in a highway accident. 20 yr old girl in the bloom of her life out shopping with her mother on a Saturday afternoon. A negligent driver loses some unsecured equipment out of his trailer and her life is snuffed out instantly. Mom has to see her daughter pass, Dad has to get the phone call, twin sister has to spend the rest of her life without her twin. All because some knucklehead can't spend five minutes and secure his load.

I'm sorry you lost people you know. It stings terribly. God keep them close and grant peace to their loved ones.

This: Accident Report, appears to be the accident report. When it says "Safety Device", "No" for the two girls, does that mean they were not wearing their seatbelts? It says "Unknown" for the mothers and "Yes" for the driver of the truck.

I saw the same thing. I think for the front driver and passenger it means they couldn't tell. When you look at the pictures, it wouldn't have mattered. For the other two, I don't want to victim blame and I get they were on a long drive, but you would think firefighters would have the kids in seatbelts. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered either.

We drive that stretch of highway when we go to STL, it's not particularly dangerous, people speed through there alot. I'm sure we'll find out more about the pickup driver, but this is the rare percentage where the median cables didn't do their job.

Yes, horrific. I offer prayers for all as well.
I'm sure they were all great young ladies... just headed to a tournament which they've done countless times. You just never know whenever you get in a vehicle what may happen.

I know that area. It can be a bit tricky, or out of the ordinary for an interstate. It wasn't always an interstate (it was Hwy 40) and may not yet be fully up to an unfamiliar driver's expectations of what interstate driving would usually be.

As for the other driver, sounds like a real knucklehead.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and St. Charles County Prosecutor's Office said the crash was a criminal investigation and charges against Henderson – who has a history of drug charges could be expected.

He was on probation for the charges, KSDK reported. The driver has not yet been arrested and police are awaiting toxicology reports on Henderson.

It could just be selective memory on my part, but since I was a kid, I noticed the drunk driver always seems to walk away from the accident.

Very sad story.

Drunk drivers need to be jailed indefinitely for something like this.

I ran across a report a couple days ago that suggested the truck rolled OVER the cable barrier.

'Driver Henderson was on probation for drugs charges and local media outlets said police are awaiting toxicology reports...'

Sounds like a 100% genuine waste of skin.

DUI vehicular manslaughter for repeat offenders (previous DUI conviction) should be a capital offence

I'd be ok with simply releasing him from jail and turning a blind eye to anything that should befall him. They'd just need to announce the time he walks out the door.

Really? Without a trial? Confused

He "has a history of drug charges" for which he was on probation. But he "has not yet been arrested and police are awaiting toxicology reports".

Perhaps someone can provide a link where it says this guy has been arrested for DUI? I haven't found one yet.
