I'll admit I was poking the bear a little bit. Your ideas are wonderful, but in the current political climate, do you really see that kind of change ever becoming a reality? The left is fully entrenched in our education system from pre-school through college and the unions and media will throw their full weight into keeping it that way. Sounds like doom and gloom on my part I know, but I just don't see it happening in this or the next generation. I hope I'm wrong, believe me. Just think how much trouble she would be in if she actually went through w/ the shooting. A high-cap stick like that, who knows how much carnage she could have wreaked.  Ironically, if she hit someone w/ it, she would probably be in less trouble. She'll know better to just pistol whip them next time. | |||

Yes. As JALLEN put it: "Close the public schools. Lay off the teachers. Sell the properties back onto the tax rolls. Provide a voucher to the responsible adult for each school age kid, to be spent as that person sees fit." I don't see this happening, but it is the only real solution. After the turmoil of the '60s, leftists moved en masse into education at all levels. And into the "media." In 2000, my son was 5 years old, and this was G.W.Bush's idea when he was running for president. This was the number one reason why I voted for him. The Left insists that the voucher idea is racist. Yet, 1.) In polls during 2000, a considerable majority of Black folks said they wanted the voucher program, and 2.) The voucher program was tried as an experiment and proved to be overwhelmingly successful. The only reason the Left is against it is because they need things to be just the way they are right now - education as a possible by-product, while Leftist indoctrination is the only essential component of our public school system. We pay a lot in school taxes just so that the Leftists can corrupt our children.  If a parent really loves his child, he'll make the sacrifice to put him through a private school. Of all the enemies that the American citizen faces, the Democrat Party is the very worst. | |||
