Stripe for paying online Login/Join
Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Suppose to be a way to pay online to vendors that don't accept CC directly.
Never heard of it until now and wonder if anybody has any experience with it.

I use stripe to offer my customers a way to pay me online via credit card. What do you need to know about it?

They have an API so you can add payment links to your web site.

Keep in mind they are antigun, just like PayPal and google and Amazon.

Was just wondering if it is a scam or is good to use.
Who pays the "fee" of 2.9% +$.30, vendor or buyer?
I would be the buyer.

It is on a site that had complaints about paypal so they are offering CC pay through Stripe.
Not happy that it is anti gun like paypal!

It’s good to go. The fee is paid by the vendor but i believe Stripe has added an option for the vendor to add the fee to the invoice. I only use it because my invoicing program has Stripe as the only option so far.

Stripe is a credit card processing platform, a competitor of PayPal.

I used it for a few years with no problems.

It has a paper value of $35 billion.

Not going away anytime soon.

3 million websites use it.

Had a very competitive fee structure when I used it as a vendor.

Stripe is like any other payment gateway. Popular with small businesses since it is a bit easier to set up, but the costs can be a bit higher for the business.

Vendors do not "accept credit cards directly." They all use some sort of payment gateway.

In short, they are good-to-go, but for the small businesses I support, I do have a payment gateway processor that I prefer and suggest instead of Stripe.

I run a very small business and was tempted to use Square a few years back until I read their policy. has nothing to do with what they charge but how they view firearm sales (which I don't do) they put it in the same category as phone sex and such. I'd be willing to bet Stripe is just the same.

Stripe processes all the CC payments for sales at my work. We have never had an issue. (We are not firearm related where I work).
