Lord VaalicMini logs? Didn't know they existed, I would have loved those as a kid.
What aspect is annoying, the stepping on them? Or losing them?

I guess you missed out. They've been out in one form or another since 1924

For experienced parents everywhere, stepping on the damn things!
Seriously, the product should have a consumer warning label indicating that if your child forgets to put away the pieces, there is a strong likelihood that the child may be exposed to and learn colorful new language.

snideraI thought they were awesome, then he asked me to build the house. Those are Transformer micro-machines & a 5yo hand for reference. They're about 3/16" diameter & the singles are <3/8" long. They don't fit together all that well, the notches are too tight.
All that adds up to wanting to throw things 1 minute into building a 2" square house. He got these on the 18th from my mom as we went to MX on the 21st to see the inlaws. He wanted to take them on the plane, I hid them. He was pissed when he dropped the table & looked in his backpack. We got home at 1AM on the 29th (actually 30th) and he had to find them before going to bed.
I forsee me getting completely fed up, modeling these in CAD, then 3D-printing iterations until they stand up & fit together easily so I can have some peace. We have some ~50yo Lincoln logs, but of course he doesn't want to use those.

FredwardStepping on mini-Lincoln logs ain't shit compared to stepping on Legos. Or even worse, the gears from and old-fashioned clock.
