Fascinating Video. Repair of 1953 Fender Telecaster
I think a lot of you will enjoy watching this guy work. Those of you who are not guitar people should know, a ‘53 Tele is from the “Blackguard” years of 1950-1954. They are highly sought after by professional musicians and collectors. Hard to say what this one is worth after the repair. Original is better, obviously. I’ve seen refinished Blackguards for sale in the $25k range, and all original ones that are in excellent condition for twice that.

Anyway, fascinating to watch him patch the guitar. I have some thoughts on the refinish, but I’ll save that for later.

Nice work, but I'm not a fan of the relic treatment.

Thanks for posting this. I've put together and have attempted to repair several teles and strats over the years. It's fun to watch a professional do it.

He’s one of my favorites. Look at the videos where he repairs Willie Nelson's guitar and also Mike Bloomfield’s telecaster. Thanks for posting.

I have to agree with Vinny. His wood working skills make him a perfect choice to make the repair, but I’m not a fan of the relic job, up to the point where the video stopped. I would like to see what it looked like when he completed the relic work. It is, after all, still a ‘53 and wouldn’t have looked right at all if it was not reliced in some manner, there are some camera shots of the wear on the upper bout. Still, I shivered when he drug the guitar over the rock; I can’t believe he can make that look like natural wear.

Next up, one of Pete Townsend's guitars.

Thats great stuff, brought it back from the hack job and I like the relic treatment, it makes it look like a used guitar that's 60 years old should look, adds back the character

Yep, would love to see the final result. There is a difference in a well-loved and cared-for 67 year-old "relic," and one that has been run over by a truck. I think I would prefer the former.

He had me until the relic-ing part. Still, that guy is good.
