Wow ... bring the past to the present ! I remember listening to this song on the car radio many times in high school (class '74). Of course back then we did not watch music videos.
Getting to listen to this song again after nearly 50 years brings back memories, and better yet, getting to see the music video made it even more awesome.

He did it the right way. Instead of being caught up in the revolving circle of record labels, manager, accountants, he decided to run his whole life. Made enough money to retire, and did.

I’ve always loved that song…great one! It’s one of those songs that, anytime I hear it, I request silence from my wife if she’s with me. My favorite part of the studio version has to be the 3 hand claps in the last half of the song…love it.
You can't fake grooves like that. The 80's obsession with drum machines, then the rise of hip hop, and now with everything time corrected in Pro Tools, it's all to "perfect". Probably why so much of it is throwaway songs for background noise.
