Neighbors block ICE from deporting illegal alien.
Well I don't know what to say about this. Our laws are so weak we can't remove an illegal from a minivan, WTF? I'll laugh when they pick em up later this week, but damn. I can't believe that.

VIDEO: ICE ARREST THWARTED AFTER NEIGHBORS FORM HUMAN CHAIN AROUND FATHER AND SON

By Chantal Da Silva On 7/23/19

Newsweek

Residents of one Tennessee community banded together Monday to thwart a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest, forming a human chain around a father and son so they could safely make their way home.

The incident unfolded in the morning, as the father and son got into their family van outside their Hermitage home. An ICE vehicle then blocked their van in, according to CNN.

As the father and son refused to leave the vehicle, neighbors who saw what was going on came to the family's aid, with as many as 30 to 40 neighbors helping to bring the family water, gas and wet rags so they could remain in the van.

"We made sure they had water, they had food, we put gas back in the vehicle when they were getting low just to make sure they were okay," one neighbor, Felishadae Young, told the broadcaster.

After four hours passed, with the ICE agent refusing to leave, neighbors came up with a plan to create a human chain around the father and son, allowing them to run into their home.

Video shared online by Occupy Democrats shows neighbors clasping hands, forming a semi-circle around the van, as the father and son make their way into their home.

"I'm so grateful for everyone's support," a tearful mother says at the door, with her husband and son safely inside. "From the bottom of my heart, thank you...Thanks to all of you who had our back today."

After the community members successfully helped the family flee, the ICE agent gave up and left.

It is likely that the family and community were aware of their rights, given that while the ICE agent had an administrative warrant, such a warrant does not allow agents to remove someone from their home or vehicle.

That is why immigration advocacy groups have made a concerted effort to make undocumented immigrants and neighbors aware of the fact that they do not need to answer their doors, should an ICE agent come knocking.

Despite their rights being clear, Daniel Ayoadeyoon, a local lawyer who made his way to the scene to provide assistance, said that the ICE agent claimed that if the father did not come out "we're going to arrest you, we're going to arrest your 12-year-old son."

"That's just not legal, it's not the right law," Ayoadeyoon said.

Nashville police were present at the incident to keep the peace. However, they were not there to aid ICE in the attempted arrest.

Neighbors said that they suspected ICE would make a return, but if they did, the community would rise to the challenge once again.

"I know they're gonna come back, and when they come back, we're coming back," Young said.

"I could see if these people were bad criminals, but they're not, they're just trying to provide for their kids" Stacey Farley, a fellow neighbor said. "The family don't bother nobody, they work every day, they come home, the kids jump on their trampoline, it's just a community."

While ICE has not immediately responded to a request for comment from Newsweek, the agency told CNN that it was conducting "targeted enforcement of federal immigration law on a daily basis in accordance with our routine, ongoing operations."

"ICE continues to focus its enforcement efforts on criminal offenders as nearly 90 percent of persons arrested for violation of federal immigration law during the past year also had either a prior criminal conviction or a pending criminal charge," it maintained. "ICE does not conduct any type of random or indiscriminate enforcement that would encounter persons indiscriminately."

The story of the thwarted arrest has gained traction on social media, with one commenter saying it brought her to tears.

Democratic Rep. Accuses CBP Of 'Kidnapping' Three U.S. Children
"My father just texted me to tell me an entire neighborhood in Nashville Tennessee formed a wall of people to keep out ICE and gave their neighbors time to escape," wrote one Twitter user with the handle Odette Roulette. "I can't help it. I'm crying. There are good people. There are good people."

"Love thy neighbor," another social media user, Anne Fuqua, wrote.

“one neighbor, Felishadae Young”

I have a feeling this neighbor is a member of a special class of people who have figured out nothing happens if they don’t obey the authorities.

If I were In Charge Of Things, every damned one of them would be arrested for obstruction, interference, and whatever other charges I could think of, up to and including Mopery On The High Seas, arrest to take place on a Friday afternoon so that they can spend the weekend in jail before appearing for a bail hearing on Monday. Every fucking one of them.

What the hell ever happened to the rule of law? This fits right in with the other thread about dumping water on cops.

Sooner or later, it will come to the point where everyday citizens will be just fed up, and will jump in and start enforcing the law. Mad

Nashville is following the well established trajectory of other urban areas around the country. Large parts of Hendersonville are shit holes.

Nashville politicians have a bad case of little mans disease. They are determined to prove Nashville is a big city - no matter how much of the citizens tax money they have to steal to do so.

Interfering with a federal officer along with aiding and abetting a known illegal alien.

Time to get them woke! Wink

Government is terrified of bad press.

The ICE supervisors will absolutely prevent agents from doing anything that might be get them bad press.

When those neighbors showed up, the ICE managers were having visions of all the publicity that would result from a white agent shooting a black neighbor, should things escalate.

This is a good example of there not being two way streets in liberalville. One way and left turn only.

Very concerned about what's legal unless it's their legality you're referring to.

Mopery on the High Seas may be a bit of overzealous prosecution in Nashville TN. LOL

I guess I’m gonna go rob a bank. Maybe my neighbors will make a human chain around me to discourage federal officers.

What a friggin disgrace. I’d wade off into those assholes with some hickory shampoo. Cops can’t let assholes tell them what the law is.

Sounds like a plan. I think I will do it, too.

When it comes to the left the laws are only a suggestion, they are not the rule. And that starts at the top.

When I was a kid, my hero was my favorite uncle. Solly walked a beat in Brooklyn, settling neighborhood disputes like the King he was named after (Solomon).

To my knowledge, he never had any need to draw his revolver. The troublemakers on his beat had good reason to respect his night stick.

I remember when aiding and abetting was a crime too.

It looks like we created a law enforcement agency but made them paper tigers. I cannot imagine why there are warrants that have the same restrictions as a child's game of hide-and-seek.

The other thing about this that really ticked me off was the fact that Metro PD was there for "crowd control". When asked by the news why they weren't making any arrests, they said that no one was breaking any local laws and that this was a civil matter. In other words, they just looked the other way which is what they have been told to do ever since Ferguson.

8 usc 1324, which is the statute that sets the elements for the offense known as 'alien smuggling', lists "aiding" "facilitating", or doing anything "in furtherence of" the illegal entry of aliens, as making one guilty of "alien smuggling.

But, if noone is willing to enforce it, the statute is a waste of ink. ICE is a paper tiger because, despite having all the authority in the world to act, is run by managers who are afraid of their own shadow.

The house committees who oversee ice, is stocked with democrats. As long as half the american electorate want illegals left alone, and vote such, thats ecactly what will happen.

The federal government is a joke. Theres no good reason at all to take them seriously. Thats why i dont get too wrapped around the axle when ATF comes out with a new opinion on pistol braces or barrel lengths.

Im still pinning my hopes for Americas future on an asteroid.

I can tell you my respect for the rule of law in this country is at an all time low. I am not held to the same standard as these "more equal" folks so what is my incentive?
