Politics and money are the main drivers of any Bowl game. Records matter to some degree, butts in seats and TV viewership are major players here. ND gets invited to Bowl games because the stadium will sell out. Half the fans want ND to win the other half wants them to lose. Their fans show up.This message has been edited. UCF / LSU would be a good game. Or even the likes of UCF / Penn State. Both LSU and Penn State are 3 loss teams. Would be interesting to see how long UCF could hang.

Which is why there should be an 8-team playoff.

I think Bama will beat OU & Clemson will kill ND; I will be rooting for OU but their defense isn't very good.
Bama will then beat Clemson. Bama is too good.

i agree
having recently moved to FL - with no dog in the fight - it's interesting to hear the 'noise' being made by UCF as they become more prominent
that's the fun tricky thing about college football - it really is comparing apples and oranges sometimes - especially given the 'puff' games that even strong teams in the 'big leagues' schedule
like - who has a harder schedule - UCF playing mostly 'medium hard' games week in and week out vs. Alabama who will have a few games vs quality opponents like the Citadel or Arkansas St who their third string can beat 50-10
and NO - - I am in no way attempting to compare UCF with Alabama - just the concept of trying to winnow down wins versus losses
i love it - and I am not aligned to any particular BCS team / conference having gone to an FCS school

Just give the trophy to Alabama, they can beat all three of the other teams.

As an Alumnus of tOSU, I am happy they did not get in. They did not show the consistency needed to deserve a spot. I am also glad Georgia did not get in. With only 4 spots, I think you should have to be a conference champion. And yes, I complained about that when tOSU was selected over Penn State a few years ago. I thought that was just wrong. Of course, Clemson corrected that wrong pretty quickly.
Notre Dame should be forced to join a conference or forgo the ability to be in the playoffs.
All the conferences should be required to play the same number of in-conference games. Preferably 9
The SEC should be penalized for the cupcakes they schedule for non-conference games in the middle of the season. Alabama vs. Citidel comes to mind. I have no problem with a cupcake game as the first or second game of the season, everyone needs to see how the kids will play for real. But the cupcake eating should stop after the 3rd game at the latest.
I hope Dwayne Haskins wins the Heisman to make up for not making the playoffs.
Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Hang! Hang you say! I say UCF sweeps the stadium with those bayou bumpkins.

I'd like to see the CFP whether 4,8,16 teams, settled before Christmas even if it means knocking a game or two off college regular season schedules. After the end of regular season, they roll right into conference championships, and I'd like to see them roll right into playoffs after the conference championships. There are 3 Saturdays between now and Christmas after all. A month layoff is too long for some/most teams, but may benefit Alabama this year as far as getting quarterbacks healthy and continued healing. But non-conference teams like ND would have a playoff advantage in that they don't play a conference championship, so in any case, not everyone would ever be happy.

I've got a bit of a soft spot for UCF. Head Coach Josh Heupel was the OU Sooners quarterback when OU won the 2000 BCS Bowl Championship.

While expansion sounds good, one of the commissioners responded "It's alive and well in the media."
Another guy made the point that the playoffs begin in Week 1.
It would be interesting to see if / when UCF gets a chance at the big game, if they get smoke checked like the Pac12 reps have so far.

I recall people saying the Playoffs would settle all this complaining and bitching about who is the best team in the Country.

Shit, UCF bringing the pain at #71 strength of schedule - put em in coach!

It does, but it doesn't settle who is the 4/5/6/7/8th best who want a chance to play after making excuses for their losses.
Lets be honest, this is a year you could just play one game, Bama vs Clemson in a regular bowl game to decide.

New Years day and after bowl games should be like Thanksgiving day games ... where nobody cares if Detroit or Dallas wins. They just want to veg out in front of the tube.
