I agree with the Senator that the Supreme Court nominating process has been excessively politicized. I am not sure the Court itself is so politicized, since once they are confirmed the justices are free to act as they wish.

But even this speech turns the conformation process into something it shouldn't be. It shouldn't be a time to speechify and lobby for the Senators' views. They should make sure the nominee isn't a lunatic or imbecile, and then vote. As they said in "Star Wars;" "Stay on target!"
