Looking to get reliable internet service for a camp out in the country where there is no cable service. If anybody can provide some leads, it would be greatly appreciated!

Starlink? “Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by American aerospace company SpaceX, providing satellite Internet access coverage to over 56 countries. It also aims for global mobile phone service after 2023. …” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink P. S. – A member posted about his experience with it not long ago. Search The Lounge for “starlink” posts. ETA – Here’s the link that I mentioned: “Anyone Using Starlink?” https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...630012005#7630012005This message has been edited. Satellite or cell service maybe your only options.

How's the cell service out there? A mobile hotspot might work, if you have limited users connected to it. They bog down pretty heavily with a lot of traffic/users. The Enemy's gate is down.

I’m using Verizon home LTE internet service. If you have decent coverage it is reliable and pretty inexpensive with unlimited bandwidth. “Government exists to protect us from each other. There’s a significant difference between “rural locations” and a “camp out.” If internet is that important to you, maybe you can’t go camping. Sorry. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Allow me to suggest T-MOBILE Home Internet. IF it is available. We dumped our cable internet provider for the T-Mobile 5g . It has been 100% reliable and speeds up to 400 Mbps. Fixed flat rate price. Router/Modem is wifi6. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. Thank you Very little |
Short Term availability, only need it occasionally, if cell service is there then a hotspot as suggested would be a good idea, you can get mobile hotspots from your cell provider, or have it on your cell phone to share, speeds are limited, if you get a few people on it could really slow. All the time, Starlink, or as suggested T-Mobile of Verizon wireless if you have cell service and they allow it out there.

Can you even get a cellular signal out there? Is there at least telephone service, i.e. you have poles strung with telephone wires? You could see if they have DSL at least. I hunt with my Dad at a very rural area in Potter county, PA and the only thing there is DSL which is better than nothing, there no cell service there at all it's so in the middle of nowhere. If that's not there and there's no cellular signal, the only thing left is satellite I think.

No offense, but if I was going camping it would be to specifically get away from the internet. Sat phone maybe for emergencies otherwise the internet can wait. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Look around for available WISPs (wireless ISPs). They are usually small, rural companies with a smallish footprint, but if you happen to fall within their service areas, you can get decent Internet service. Latency is land-like as well. We moved to AZ in 2002 to a rural area, and the only decent service we could get was one of two WISPs. We had other wireless options, like Hughes satellite (ugh), and cellular ($$$), or dial-up. Finally, about 6 years ago, CenturyLink laid fiber out this way for some new developments, and we got VDSL (speedy DSL), which is our copper installation connected directly to a fiber backhaul. WISPs do provide decent service, and are generally not heavily advertised. When in doubt, mumble
