We are looking at installing a water filter system under our kitchen sink and are looking for suggestions from people with firsthand experience. We currently use a Pro One gravity filter but would like to switch to a filter system.

Thanks in advance.

On my to-do list.

My parents got a RO system from Costco, would probably be where I'd look first. IIRC, it was a couple hundred $$

Whatever you get, just make sure you can easily access the filters to change them. Usually not much room under the sink.

RO with enough capacity to fill pots for noodle, soups, rice, coffee, tea, etc. The smaller ones with the disposable filters the size of a refrigerator filter can't do this and keep up with a family of 5's drinking water. Plus, those filters are supposed to be replaced every 6 months and cost almost as much as a new system.

I have the Pentek® Freshpoint system under my sink, and it feeds my refrigerator ice maker too; it works extremely well and we love it.

I have had an RO system under my kitchen sink for close to 20 years. It was installed by Culligan and I pay $250 a year for their gold seal service plan. The service plan includes all of the filters being changed annually and replacing any parts that ever go out. It also includes replacing the membrane when it is needed and that alone can be close to $500.

Costco in the past has had the Pure Blue brand RO systems. I have not seen them in the store in awhile and they do not appear to be available online at the moment. I have had one for 5 years and they still sell the replacement filter cartridges and membrane cartridge online at Costco.com for my unit. The replacements are very reasonable in price. Membrane only $60 needed every 2 or 3 years, and a filer pack with enough corteges for complete change out twice. (every six months) also only $60.

I did have the pressure tank membrane rupture just recently but went to Amazon and bought a new one for $75.

Edit they appear to sell a somewhat new style system Brondel Circle that looks pretty interesting and is supposed to be much more efficient regarding wasting water. They also have the Delta Clarifi system that is a tankless on demand system that is expensive and I have not heard good things about it.
