5 years ago I traded my 2015 Wrangler Sport on a truck. A very low mileage 2014 Rubicon became available from an acquaintance so long story short I bought it. Very nice condition not a scratch, 6-speed, hardtop. After he bought it new he added heavy duty bumpers, steel fenders, cat-back exhaust, Mopar cold air intake, Piaa fog lights and changed the headlights to LED fixtures. No suspension mods thankfully. Anyway happy to have one again.

The only thing I think I’d like more than my 2018 JKU, is a JK.

Or maybe a CJ lol.

Looks great!

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

My only regret is that my 2012 isn’t an Unlimited, the back seat is about useless.

Pretty much, I simply remove the rear seat as when it folds up it still takes up a lot of space. That leaves plenty of room for cargo, camping gear, etc.

Thanks Florida and Phill.
It really was an impulse purchase and I don't need both it and the Corolla HB. I guess I'll drive both for a while then keep the one I like most. The Corolla is a 6-speed also and as a 2019 is newer, rides better and quieter on the highway, and gets better mpg. The Jeep? Well it's fun to drive and works better on bad roads and in snow and has fewer miles.

Congrats, nice Jeep. Gotta love the 2 door 6-speed. Wife and I have a '13 and a '14 2 Door, both 6-speeds. Love them. Lots of fun.

Thanks. Anything I should be aware of on this vintage?
Not mileage but just because it's 9 years old now I'll change the oil and maybe even the diffs, transfer and transmission, just to start fresh. Also brake fluid for sure.

They are pretty solid vehicles. Both of ours have around 80K on them, last year we did a cross country cost to cost trip, following mostly the TAT, and didn't have any issues. Around 7K miles over 5 weeks (and I was towing a trailer).

You have one of the best years for the JK.

The 3.6 is pretty solid. The oil cooler is a bit quirky (and made of plastic, so it is easy to crack when changing oil), and if it leaks, it leaks in the valley so it is a bit hard to spot at first. Always use a torque wrench when putting the oil filter cap back on.

The 6-speed is solid too. Just a bit clunky, but reliable.

Her's is stock suspension wise, mine has a 2.5 AEV lift. Hers drives SO much better. Neither of us wheel hard.

Mine is a Rubicon (like yours) with 4.10 gears, gets around 16 MPG with the lift.... Hers is a Sahara, with 3.21 gears. Gets around 20 MPG....

I'd recommend a soft top Smile We both have both tops for them, swap them out as seasons change.

Not a jeep guy but the previous owner knew how to not over upgrade. I like the looks of that one a lot. Congrats.

the backseat in my 2010 JK was so totally useless - and made the space behind so useless - that I removed it and its been sitting in my garage for the last 13 years. Haven't missed it once.

Thanks old cross, I'm happy he didn't mess with the suspension because I probably wouldn't have been interested. I'm not taking it rock crawling just paved and dirt roads, maybe a mild trail on my property, but that's about it.

Thanks xanth I'll be careful with the oil filter cap and use a torque wrench on it. I'll stop at the dealer and pick up a filter tomorrow.
Great looking "his and hers" there, rather than buying a 4-door you have two 2-doors! Smile

When looking at Jeeps on the lots around here it seems like only 15% are 2-door, and of them only 15% are manual. From what I've heard though the 8-speed auto is the way to on the new JL's because it's just that good. And something about clutch problems now on the newer manuals.
