I received notice that my local Sportsman's Warehouse had received a shipment of ammo and would have it on their shelves when they opened this morning at 9. Just for fun, I got there at 8:20 and there were easily over a hundred people in line. I snapped a few photos and left. The line was well out into the parking lot and people were still arriving. Granted, they were distancing so that made the line longer. I am thankful I am not in dire need of ammo (except for .220 Swift).

Yep. Same as Xbox and PlayStation scalpers. You couldn’t pay me to get in a line like that.

I just found out our local Field & Stream Dicks store closed and is now a Sportsman’s Warehouse. Guess I can go check it out again. I visit one in TN but it’s been cleaned out like everything else.

My son and his friends went to Cabela’s today in Hartford, CT. He said they had a couple of boxes of 28 Gauge for sale and that’s it.

Those guys are hard up for ammo, for themselves or to sell.

One can mail order, or go on Gunbroker. At least no shortage here, plenty of components for reloading.

I was in my local Cabela's yesterday just looking around, and they actually had a large stack of Winchester white box 7.62 Nato in stock for $25 a box! Don't need any 308 that bad. That stuff used to be $15/box regular price and even as low as $10 on sale pre-panic.

It seems to me things may be easing a bit. Just a bit. I am getting something in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 alerts a week from MidwayUSA about ammo arrivals. The only one I'm not getting is for .45-70, for which I've gotten 1 or 2 in the last 90 days. I've been able to come up with so much .358 Winchester, .35 Remington, .30-06, .308, .30-30, .270 and 6.5z55 Swedish that I am passing up new notices. I've been able to get several boxes of Federal Premium Law Enforcement 9mm and .45 ACP from SGAmmo recently. I've gotten Winchester white box 10mm from Midway.

Trick is, you have to put yourself on the Notify Me lists for the ammo you want. And you should do it once a week. Every monday morning before I start work, I open MidwayUSA's site and go thru the ammo I want and click Notify Me. Every week. And Every week I don't fail to receive multiple notices. The other trick is acting fast. Ammo can be gone in 10 minutes after receiving a notice.

I ordered some .270 Winchester ammo from Midway last Monday morning when I got a notice and had it on Thursday. And that was using their standard shipping. That's absolutely unheard of for Midway.

SW didn't have any handgun ammo here. I could not find any buckshot but they had a lot of lesser loads. They did have a decent bit of rifle ammo in calibers you wouldn't really punch paper with.

My cousin works there. She calls me when they stock shelves. I went the first two times she called but by the time i got there they were empty. I told her to stop calling me with updates, its costing me too much in gas money.

Hey OP... we were in the 22 Three store just south of Lebanon, OH on Thursday and they had 2 boxes on the shelf! I didn't look at the price, sorry. Nice big roomy/clean store, but mostly junk on the shelves (but they were clean shelves.)

Unhappy ammo seeker

I stopped by my local Sportsman's Friday. Long line at the gun counter and not much there. Looked like they had quit a few Pmags, other various magazines, not much no ammo, and very little components. I saw some 124 FMJ 9mm bullets. I thought what the hell I'll pick some up and put on the shelf. Yeah no, and I mean FUCK NO! They where priced @ $209 for 1000.

I think if that happened by me I would pull up with a couple thousand rounds and see who is the highest bidder.
