I'm not surprised by any of this. The City of Chicago will blame everything and everybody that they can think of for all the shootings and homicides. They will blame the gun, the citizens of other States, the Police, Republicans, Trump supporters, anyone and everyone except those that are actually the reason or the cause of all of it. They can't because the people that are responsible for it are their base. So if you are a supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the right of self defense YOU are responsible, not the thugs that pull the trigger.

Glock needs to sue Chicago for letting people use their products illegally. They'd have a lot more to stand on, and a lot more cases to reference.

Heard on NPR today that Everytown said to expect more lawsuits against Glock.

Sigh... It would be inappropriate, but it seems that there are a lot of people who should become intimately acquainted with hickory axe handles...

A little update on this lawsuit... https://cwbchicago.com/2024/07...irearms-company.html Update: The city states it is expanding the lawsuit to include additional parties, however no new lawsuit appears in court files as of midday Tuesday. CHICAGO — When Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced in March that his administration was filing a “first-of-its-kind lawsuit” against firearm manufacturer Glock, the city drummed up publicity with a press release and widespread media coverage. There was no press release and no media coverage on Monday when the city’s attorneys unceremoniously dropped the case in a two-sentence federal court filing. The city’s lawsuit sought to hold Glock responsible because some of its handguns can be equipped with cheap, illegal after-market devices that allow the weapons to generate automatic gunfire, similar to a machine gun. This video provides a demonstration: (click on link for the video) Chicago police had recovered more than 1,100 firearms modified with so-called “Glock switches” in the two years leading up to the lawsuit, the press release claimed. City lawyers filed the suit in state court under a new state law called the “Firearms Industry Responsibility Act,” which was signed into law last year. The case moved to federal court within a month, and records show that Glock filed a motion to dismiss in June, arguing that the city failed to state an actionable claim and that some elements of the city’s claim were invalid because they would interfere with interstate commerce. State records show the original case was closed out last week, with a notation that the matter was moved to federal court. Yesterday, the city filed a notice of voluntary dismissal without prejudice with the federal court. The “without prejudice” stipulation could allow the city to pursue the case again. The filing did not explain why the city made the move. You can read it below. They are part of the suit. I think they are expanding the suit to other compaines that manufacture "Glock-like" frames, slides and internals. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Peace through superior firepower |
If Chicago wants to reduce shootings, they should hand out condoms and IUDs by the truckload and consider forced sterilization as a prerequisite to occupy public housing. Start actually prosecuting and imprisoning violent offenders with no parole system; sentenced to, for example, ten years, do the full ten years, no exceptions. Build prisons, fill them, and encourage or require contraception. The least of the problem is a brand of firearms.

So where is the ATF in this? They have no problem sending a crowd of agents into Bryan Malinkowski's home in Arkansas to shoot him in the head for far less. Why aren't they sweeping the projects looking for these Glock switches??

So could it possibly be because if you sue Glock for basically producing “machine guns” using the easily convertible language then you have to tacitly acknowledge that there are millions of legally owned, and used for completely legal purposes machine guns out there and you are suddenly up against Heller and maybe even making an unintended argument against the 84 ban if not the GCA of 68. Seems like going after something like Glock for this reason opens up a whole can of worms they may not exactly want to fish with. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

It would be interesting to separate out those cases where a person was arrested with a modified Glock from those where a modified weapon was merely recovered. Then, follow the cases where someone was arrested and see how many convictions were obtained, what charges were filed to obtain the arrest and what sentences were meted out after conviction. You can arrest thugs with guns all day long but it's a fool's mission unless there are certain, consistent consequences. Plea bargains should be disallowed in such cases and judges who don't hand out sentences appropriate to the crime should be voted out at the earliest opportunity. But I suppose it's far easier to blame the gun and its maker.

Looks like the suit is back on again! This time the City added in two local gun stores as well. https://cwbchicago.com/2024/07...s-as-defendants.html ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Come on, man! This is Cook Co! Felony charges? Convictions? Foxx doesn't do that! It's double secret probation at best. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. I've wondered similar. I'm pretty sure that making a "machine gun" without the proper FFL and paperwork is a federal crime. How many of the "Glock Switch Gang" have been brought up on federal charges?

I feel your pain. Around here, Kim Gardner often wouldn’t even have an assistant circuit attorney in court representing her office in certain murder trials which often resulted in charges being dismissed. Thankfully, she’s gone and there’s a real, non-Soros prosecutor in the office who’s doing real prosecutor things and is slowly chipping away at the cluster of backlogged cases he inherited.

Very few. Which doesn't help the overall situation. Since kim foxx, our States Attorney won't prosecute State charges, and our progressive liberal judges like letting people go on "home confinement" or electronic monitoring (and no real enforcement for violating those terms), there's a lot of shitbirds out on the streets who should be in custody that are free to keep on committing crimes. Not a lot of punishment for bad behavior around here. Here's an example: https://cwbchicago.com/2024/07...r-a-drug-charge.html https://cwbchicago.com/2024/07...night-in-prison.html ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Thanks for the info. I figured that was the case. It annoys me that the proposed solution is new gun laws vs prosecute the law breakers to the fullest extent. Stay safe out there.

You forgot the important phrase "common sense" before the "gun laws" part. It's about MAKING IT LOOK LIKE you're solving the problem, not actually solving the problem. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot.
