Almost 16 minutes of a talk delivered by Drowley at Scott AFB. He’s an A-10 attack pilot and with just two stories you get a pretty good idea just what kind of officer he is. I promise you the time will fly by.

That was an inspiring talk. Not surprisingly, he's now a Brigadier General.

Thank you! Your right, it kept me riveted. My scrotum now feels inadequately small!

I already ran across this about a year ago while lighting one Tedx off another. One of the best I watched as I recall.

I know the A-10 is all about the gun. But when he was talking about the mission, I thought cluster bombs and/or napalm would be more effective.

I can see that, but if I recall he said he started hosing them from 6000’ out. Directly overflying the target below a 1000 cloud deck right up against the mountains might not have been a real healthy choice...

Our military is being denigrated left, right, and center over claims of institutional misogyny and racism yet it produces leaders like BG Mike Drowley, USAF.

Sometimes success is in spite of, rather than because of...one of my life lessons.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I enjoyed that. And his attitude about the relationship between an Attack Pilot and the troops on the ground is spot on.

I can't speak for every pilot who delivered CAS but I can confirm that everyone I flew with had this exact attitude. We knew that our jobs were to support the guys on the ground and that if it meant placing ourselves at risk to do so then so be it.

It's why we wore Camo helmet covers when we flew. It was an outward sign that we would be there step for step with our brothers on the ground.

Lt. Col. (BG) Drowley seems to be an excellent leader.

I've sent this off to my CAP contact at DMAFB - he's an A10 IP - betting he's probably seen it but sending it any way

At 1k' over hostile forces you're in danger of taking direct rifle fire. The Hog is one tough bird, but that's way too close.
