I have 2 Thermapens. The classic and the MK4. I actually prefer the classic over the MK4. The MK4 seems to get confused about it's orientation and I'm having to read it sideways or upside down.

But they are a must have as all cooking particularly bbq is done to temp not time.
It's the only electronic tool I use for bbq'ing.
Your Thermapen will become invalueable as you will find out.

Couldn't resist the 20% discount offer, so I blew my budget and decided to order the Thermapen Mk4.

Hope my wife will borrow it once in a while for some indoor cooking, as she thinks I over indulged. Big Grin

For the Thermafans amongst us, they just released the wifi tool promised for over a year now. Finally!

Very nice, though spendy. I plan to have one by end of winter....

I saw that and the Smoke WiFi module as well. My Smoke works throughout my tiny house so thankfully, I don't need to spend the $ on WiFi.

That capability would be awesome for pro BBQ-ers. You could start the smoker at the restaurant and monitor it from home.

I would say the Thermapen Classic is exactly what I need........quick, accurate and simple to use.

Thank you again. I will try to locate a deal on the Thermapen Classic.

I have had the Thermapen MK4 that takes the AAA battery for about 3 years, it has worked flawless, gotten wet, gotten dropped you name it. I BBQ a lot. It's a GREAT tool.

One tip is to take the temp, wait a min or two after you've flipped the meat (or best to take temp right before flipping.)

I bought a Thermapen about two years ago and it crapped out quickly so I threw it away not knowing I might have been able to get a free replacement. I ended up buying the much cheaper Thermapop which is made by the same company and it has been good for a year now.

The funny thing was when my Thermapen broke I bought a $12 dollar cheapie from the local grocery store while I was there and before my Thermopop came in. I use them both quite often and they are within 2 degrees of each other all the time.

Thermopen = work just fine but vastly over rated.

I have Inkbird products. I have a 6 probe Bluetooth wireless unit and the instant read pen. Both work well and have for the 2 years I’ve been using them.

I completely agree with this. My classic gets used more than my MK4. I also have the Thermoworks ChefAlarm and just bought one of their Dot simple alarms. I use one for smoker temp and one for meat temp and I like how they use the same probes. I may actually but another probe and find a way to mount it to the lid of my Weber Kettle so I can just plug it into the Dot and get a rough idea of grill temps. I bought a simple dial thermometer to install one day but before I mounted it I tested it in boiling water and the dam thing was 30 degrees off from my Thermapen.
