Gee whiz Louise, before this, there was no hope? We need a student poll/election result to bring us out of despair? Q

I remember the mock election held by our class in a small school in Tennessee in 1972. There were about 40 of us and Nixon took all but the three votes for McGovern. Nixon took 49 states and 520 electoral votes in that election. Times have changed but I'm hoping to see a similar repudiation of the Democrat's socialist agenda in all but the bluest of states this time. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

No shit. OP, here is Arizona on Wed.: Harris in Tuscon Trump in Bullshead: The student vote is funny because it is far more accurate than the polls out there "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

Other than in the center of the 4 big cities; TN is a republican state anyway. Show me kids voting for trump in Michigan or Penn or NY or CA and I'll be excited. ------------------ SBrooks

In a similar vein, I saw an interesting spectacle last night. I wasn't sure where to post about it as it didn't require its own thread, but I guess it's germane to this one. I was driving to the grocery store after work and came to a stoplight at the main four corner intersection in my little town. The same intersection where the rainbow-haired white women have been waving BLM signs on random weekends for months this year. There was a single man standing at one corner. Imagine "Beto" O'Rourke in his late 60's wearing mom jeans, a neatly tucked button-down shirt, and an N95 mask, holding up a sign in each hand. On one of them, he'd written "HONK IF U VOTED" and the other was a "Washington state for Biden - Harris" sign. During that light cycle, dozens of cars drove past him, and at each honk, he waved the signs as if to wave in unity. He only waved four times. Then the turn lanes had a go, and he positioned himself so they could read his signs. No honks. One SUV drove past and the man in the passenger seat had rolled his window down, leaned his heat out the window and shouted with glee "You're a fucking idiot!" Then it was my green light, and he looked at me, expectantly. I smiled and just shook my head. I rolled my windows down after I passed him and turned into the parking lot. I heard no honking. Rolled the windows up and began walking to the entrance. One long honk. When the rainbow-hair brigade was out there waving their BLM signs, there was so much honking that one might think they were in Manhattan, not small town Washington where a honk is tantamount to taking a shit on someone's windshield - you don't do it. I know it's not necessarily indicative of a landslide for Trump. But it sure showed, at the absolute minimum, a lack of enthusiasm even among what is typically a pretty woke crowd. I almost felt bad for Beto, Sr... Almost. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

The way I read your title, it seemed you had little hope in a Trump win, thus my post. If otherwise, then cool. And yes, the student story itself is awesome. I read it as, "there is hope for the future because kids were voting for Trump". This is a common theme when young people do anything nice, good, and not in group think mode with the leftist. Some of you guys seem a little cynical to pounce on anything not perfectly worded. I think we can give most on this board the benefit of the doubt on this subject. ______________________________ “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne

You bring up a great point about the polls versus turn outs. It's not like people's arms are being twisted to attend Trump's rallies. And considering everyone knows "the whole country" hates Trump, for anyone to turn up is like saying, "Hey, I'm one of the idiots who like Trump." Nevermind the fly over country but even in San Francisco and Beverly Hills, people have been demonstrating FOR Trump. The one in San Francisco was organized by LGBT people. And then we see Biden / Harris's rallies. We're not googly-eyed, right? By the things we see, it seems Trump is going to win by a landslide. If the election results are anywhere close, the only thing it points to is massive voting fraud. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Lots of anecdotal evidence that Gen Z (aka the generation after millennial) thinks for themselves, are more independent, etc. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

tatortodd: Lots of anecdotal evidence that Gen Z (aka the generation after millennial) thinks for themselves, are more independent, etc. Hope so. When I was in school the majority of kids seemed to march off the left edge. So this is good news. The current crop is pretty much in step with their parents, and Tennessee went almost 2 to 1 for Trump in '16. Several counties went >80% red in 16 Only one, Memphis, went >80% blue, two others went >50 blue. Would be nice to flip one of the three blue counties to red in '20. Collecting dust.
