Is a mission like this essentially a suicide mission? Certainly capture post mission results in torture then death.

I would think most assassinations plots work this way, at least in non-western countries. Doesn't stop it from happening though.

I would have thought, if it was Mossad, that the attackers would have a way out. Such as use a drone to blow up the roof of the car, or something that would give them time to escape.

It just does not scream Mossad to me, more like some inner Iran thing.

That was my thoughts as well.

If its foreign generated operation, they're going to hire a local to do the hit. Infiltrating a high-trained operator is the stuff of Hollywood, the handler but, not the hitman; not like it doesn't happen but, there's a reason you hire in-country assets and dissidents to carry out the work. A few months ago a senior al-Quida operative was gunned-down in traffic via a motorcycle rider, definitely Israeli type op; this hit was more visible possibly played for public consumption.

The NPR station described it as a drive by shooting.
I guess it was, sort of.

And it would give Iran momentum (aided by Biden/Harris/Obama) to increase tensions against Israel.

What the heck, man??

Someone bent on destroying the United States gets clobbered, and John Brennan wants to boo-hoo about it?

I'm no political scientist, but that seems just messed up.

God bless America.

It certainly was subtle. I mean, you could almost mistake it for a traffic accident. /s

Remote controlled, now that sounds like the Mossad. Good for them.

https://www.haaretz.com/middle...eport-says-1.9335540

The Iranian Fars News Agency published new details on the killing of senior Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which has been attributed to Israel, claiming that he was assassinated by a remote-controlled machine gun that was detonated after the attack.

According to the report, Fakhrizadeh was driving with his wife in a bullet-proof vehicle on Friday morning, accompanied by a convoy of armored cars.

At some point, the convoy drove ahead of Fakhrizadeh in order to secure the location he was headed to. Gunfire was heard, leading Fakhrizadeh to pull over by the side of the road, as he thought the car had malfunctioned. Shots were than fired from a remote-controlled machine gun that was mounted on a Nissan car stationed some 150 meters away. One of the bullets hit Fakhrizadeh in the back, the report said, adding that the car had exploded several minutes later.

"The entire incident lasted three minutes, as no assassin was present at the scene, and because the shots were fired only by automated weapons," the report said. The owner of the vehicle which bore the weapon, the report said, was no longer residing in Iran.

Can I buy one of those? Sounds like fun. A whole list of targets, starting with our commie head of state (state, not federal, but if you insist). Not sure how that would work, but would need to include video so you could adjust your aim. Sure would complicate the protective services job.

Also interesting that he had that large a protective escort. And it makes me think maybe Iran felt he was that valuable. Maybe he needed killin'. Also makes me think we don't know the whole story or details.
