New Jersey Gov. Sherrill Says 6,600 Non-U.S. Citizens Were Registered by Error
Gov. Mikie Sherrill ordered an investigation and removal of the mistaken registrations after a software flaw affected 6,600 people, with fewer than 400 casting ballots.

On Tuesday, July 21, Governor Mikie Sherrill announced that a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission software error registered around 6,600 non-U.S. citizens to vote between 2023 and 2024.
These registrations occurred between June 2023 and June 2024 while Democratic Governor Phil Murphy was in office; applicants correctly answered 'no' to citizenship on keypads, yet the system registered them anyway.
Preliminary analysis shows fewer than 400 affected individuals actually cast ballots; Sherrill ordered those erroneously added names removed from New Jersey voter rolls immediately.
Chief Administrator Rosalie Johnson is replacing the vendor responsible for the system, while Sherrill launched an investigation into what she called 'reckless failures' under the previous administration.
Amid ongoing assertions from President Donald Trump that non-citizen voting is rampant, Sherrill rejected these claims, stating Trump has "zero credibility" on election integrity.

Perhaps registering to vote should be a conscious decision by the individual, as well as a distinct as separate activity where you show up and provide documentation to prove eligibility!

That may be true, but according to the article, this "error" did occur during the term of her predecessor, Gov. Murphy.

It should read like 6653. Regardless I believe it is too low of a number.
NJ has been corrupt since we were a colony and nothing changed.

If legal (green card, Visa, etc) they should know the rules better than most citizens, so casting ballots is completely unacceptable. Those <400 should be on a plane home already.

Phil Murphy. the previous governor, Phil Murphy, declared New Jersey a sanctuary state. He also allowed illegal aliens to get driver's licenses. The funny thing is New Jersey's motor vehicle is set up to automatically register you to vote even though they always denied that the illegal licenses that were issued could vote.

The specific details matter and tell a story of what I perceive as a deception. The actual glitch is driver lisc applicants check a box stating they were NOT citizens, yet still got registered to vote.

There is no attempt to check if illegals checked that they were citizens, if in fact they were not. None, nada.

It remains possible that of the several hundred thousand illegals who obtained DLs in NJ, they may have been registered and some percentage of that much larger number has voted.
