A big part of this problem is NAFTA. US corporations have leased huge tracts of farmland in Mexico, and out compete the Mexican farmers. They they pay super low wages to the Mexicans, where they can only buy tortillas to eat. LOTS of Mexicans would prefer to be home with their families, and not up in the US for 9 months at a time.
