The crowd followed by the secret service stopped the protester.
Rushed to within 20 or 30 feet of the stage it appeared.

Mainframe CoderRSBN reported that the campaign told them that the guy had a gun. There were several guys in the crowd who grabbed the guy and were holding him very tightly. SS bull rushed Trump off the stage and behind the curtain. Sounds in the media pen when the melee started sounded like pops. May have been a folding chair that fell.

I would not categorize the crowd tackling a protester rushing the stage as a fight.
Reporting it in the manner they did would lead the ill informed to believe it was Trump supporters fighting.
