I agree, I've long thought that voting should take place on one day. If you can't seem to plan one short activity into your schedule with 1-4 years of notice, then too bad, so sad.

Well guys...if voting were just held on 8-NOV, I wouldn't be able to vote UNLESS there was a way in my :30 minute turn after arriving from destination A before taking off for destination B that I could find a voting booth in George Bush Intercontinental Airport, IF one even existed, run as fast as my stubby legs could stand, find the booth, and vote. Last I checked, I never saw a voting booth at each gate...ever.

So I implore you, oh sage wise ones, how would you recommend I vote?

Yeah...some things are better left as ideas on paper.

Sorry....[/DRIFT]

Just occurred to me: Assuming Trump wins and starts cleaning house at the federal level, given the unionization of federal employees will it be possible for him to downsize gubbermint?

There are some agencies that have never really had a real mission. Like those 77 different agencies some time ago that all had the same job description and spent all their time in mutual love fests with each other.

Early voting is not the problem.

We almost had a voter ID law here in North Carolina, but now this is posted on the NC Voter website. Concentrate on the important issues.

"The requirement to show a photo ID for voting and other associated laws has been struck down by a Federal court. Unless there is a different outcome on appeal, PHOTO ID will not be required in the upcoming general election."

I'd recommend pointing out to your boss that federal law requires employers to give you time to vote, and then ask if they'd rather have you come in late or leave early.

I'm not against (legitimate) absentee voting, just early voting...there being a difference.

Certainly exceptions can be made for absentees, soldiers for example, or others who can confirm that they will indeed not be able to be there that day.

Otherwise, you're SOL. Figure it out. Everyone has 1-4 years to schedule around it if it is that important to them.

Eliminating early voting will IN NO WAY eliminate corruption, only voter ID laws will do that. To insinuate that an American must choose between providing for his family and casting a ballot is one of the most un-American things I have ever read.

For your Consideration....

Chatter on the other side is that Comey is covering his ass because he said under oath that ANY new information would be evaluated.

He released it now knowing full well that after the election he's going to be spending a lot of time getting grilled in hearings and doesn't want to be accused of manipulating an election by sitting on evidence, no matter how banal.

And what about people like my friend, who found out yesterday he would not be in the state to vote on Nov 8th? Screw him right? Just toss away a vote because you are scared of people abusing the ability? Some of you people would cut off your nose to spite your face. If you can't understand that early voting/absentee voting is not the problem there is no helping you.

I never said that. If your friend can prove that he has a legitimate reason that he cannot be there to vote then he should be allowed to vote absentee. Otherwise, yes...he's SOL.

And I agree with you completely that voter ID laws are the only reasonable way to stop corruption. There is absolutely no reason, none whatsoever, that a person cannot obtain a free and valid ID. None.

I have to show mine to vote and prove who I am. Why doesn't everyone?

Not implying that at all. I believe the circumstances that led to this new disclosure, especially with the NYPD involved. However I think that the current scenario is more damaging to the DNC than if the Hag had been indicted back in July.

Even if the Hag wins, there would most definitely be an impeachment process started right after she's sworn in. Her administration would be completely bogged down.

Police, various federal agencies take computers and all matter of tech to the RCFL(regional computer forensic lab) which is run by the FBI. They supply the know how and tech. local officers are trained for years to work in this lab. The officers collect the evidence and basically take a picture of everything on the computer, server, modem, cell phone, digital media. they can collect deleted files and can break a fair amount of encryption.

If the NYPD had the information then the FBI also has the information as it is stored on their servers inside the regional labs. The FBI knows everything the NYPD does and i'm betting that is why this happened. There is no way the FBI can cover it up since the NYPD has their head stuck in the cookie jar.

This makes the most sense to me. Comey is crooked, so this has nothing to do with his desire to see justice served. He acted like a crooked cop who realized that evidence he hid, or destroyed, was about to see the light of day. So he suddenly rushes out with it.

Maybe Wikileaks will also dump it next week. But whatever the specifics, he knew that he needed to beat the incriminating revelation.

It's a shit storm of corruption, guys. A veritable shit storm, in which the State Department becomes a criminal operation.

The whole federal government is a stinking, pulsing, oozing, giant glob of corruption.

Here is an excellent article by Andrew McCarthy, entitled "Clinton's State Department: a RICO Enterprise".

http://www.nationalreview.com/...orruption-foundation

Oh, and Wikileaks just released 36,000 emails.

I hope Trump fires Comey on day one. It makes me sick to see an LE officer methodically lay out the elements of a crime, substitute the phrase "extremely careless" for "grossly negligent", conclude there was no intent for a crime that doesn't require intent, then to top it all off decide that a prosecutor wouldn't indict.

Wow, good thing local law enforcement doesn't work that way. Who knew? We apparently don't need prosecutors at all. Roll Eyes The police will investigate crimes, review their own findings, and decide all by themselves if it should go to trial.

Do your job Comey! Maybe way back in your career before you wore a suit to work everyday, that is if you ever wore a local LE uniform, you can remember a concept called PROBABLE CAUSE.
