Say or believe anything you wish about Trump, but any one with the conviction of letting soldiers be soldiers has his head on straight.

The liberals would love seeing our bases caught off guard by terrorists so they could cry out for passing more laws.

Trump is getting people fired up and interested in the race who may not have been planning to watch the debates. It's a great opportunity for Walker, Paul and Cruz to step their game up and get their messages out.

They are going to have to turn their volume up to 11, because right now they are being drowned out.

Trump and Cruz are getting quite friendly. They had a meeting together in Trump Towers yesterday I believe.

This could only be one of two things. Trump dropping out at some point and endorsing Cruz or they are considering a run on the same ticket.

Trump is not a conservative and is not really even a Republican. He may be strong on border security now, but he has advocated for legalizing and giving citizenship to the illegals already here.

Other things he has advocated:

1. A 14.25% wealth tax on rich people
2. Unrestricted abortion rights
3. Assault weapons ban
4. Single-payer universal healthcare.
5. Protectionist tariffs
6. Obama's 2008 election.

Does that sound like any Republican you want to know?

He actually was a registered Democrat until Sep 2009.

So all his conservative bluster now is either a lie, which makes him no different or better than any other politician who will say anything to get elected or it represents the most stunning turn around in political belief in the history of mankind.

I know which one I'm betting on.

So be it, iron sharpens iron. If the republicans don't get real and fast they are done as me and many are through with the BS.

A lot of former Dems have woken up and smelled the coffee the DNC has been serving the last 15 years, and Zippy's brand has been rather pungent.

I remember Dennis Miller doing stand up in April 1993. 2/3rds of his jokes were still about H.W. Bush, even though he had left office 3 months ago, and there was plenty of material from the Clintons to work with.

I just can't see a Trump going very far. He may have some good sound bites, but that's about it.

He would have to have a chance to win nationally. I don't see it. Yes, he's been a flip-flopper over the years.

Maybe not. But he's not communist either, which is what the other side is offering.

Seriously. There is no D candidate who isn't a small-c communist or commie lite. Sanders does at least admit it.

That house should have been condemned when under ownership of McCain and then Romney. It needs to be "burned down," razed and then a new, improved GOP house re-built on the strong foundation of true conservative values. I say burn, baby, burn.

Yes, he's right... and I wish other Republicans would talk about the issue rather than attacking Trump and trying to make Trump the issue. Nothing is more likely to make him go independent than attacking him personally. He has a huge ego.

Again, the argument of "Politician" vs "Businessman".

When have you EVER heard a Politician verbally take a stand on anything? They talk in circles, skirt the issue, double-speak, blabber about nonsense.

Why?

Because "Politicians" don't want to offend anyone, they're looking for votes.

There's a lot of talk on this thread about the Immigration issue. No Politician is going to come out and say "CLOSE THE BORDER!". The Latino Vote is pretty important, pretty large, and getting larger. Even though that Mexican/Honduran/Cuban/Guatemalan/Columbian... came to this country in the right way, gained citizenship, has a job, votes, does the right thing... they may have family and friends that haven't. The war-cry of "CLOSE THE BORDER" scares them, their sister/brother/friend may have to go back, or not get in. Politicians don't want to chance upsetting that voting block.

The Black vote is pretty important, pretty large, and getting larger... Start talking about welfare reform, and you're loosing their votes.

Social Security? the "third rail" of politics. We all know it needs to be fixed, but just mention that you're going to change it, and you're toast.

Elections aren't won or lost on the platform of "doing the RIGHT THING for this Country" they are won or lost on VOTES. (Well, actually key votes from key states, IIRC on how that whole Electoral thing works)

Attacking Trump is the best way for them not to take a stand, say something along the lines of "Can you believe this guy?", and make the lemmings that vote feel all better about themselves!

In other words....Business as Usual is what politicians want. I for one am sick and tired of business as usual and welcome a non-politician with similar values as me to shake the system up. That's why I really, really like Cruz. He's already shaken up the system in the senate as soon as he was elected. He's my #1 choice. I also like what Trump has been saying, though he's nowhere near as polished as Cruz, I at least applaud his brashness in confronting the business as usual politicians' positions on immigration and the 2nd Amendment.

So even though he's a liberal, you'll give him a pass as a Republican because "at least he's not Hillary?"

Wow, our standards have really gotten low.

I don't see the point in getting worked up about it. Trump's popularity will fade and in the meantime he's serving a purpose. Just get some popcorn and enjoy the show.

An Important Note On Our Coverage Of Donald Trump's 'Campaign'...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I don't think he's liberal. And he surely isn't a communist. And let's not forget that one of the best presidents in our life time was a former Democrat.

I'm not giving him a pass. I was merely stating that between him and any of Democrats that will be on the ticket, he's closer to my beliefs than they are.
