You say that as if qualifications were necessary anymore.

showproThey might not be necessary to win, but it sure would be nice to have someone in office with some qualifications, dontcha think? I mean, how can we point our fingers at unqualified people like Obama (was) and then cheer for our own unqualified people? Isn't that just hypocrisy?

braillediverTrump didn't get here by listening to other people. Trump is turning the establishment on its ear. I hope he continues to work his magic.

"Ernst had served 23 years between the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. She spent 14 months in Kuwait in 2003–04 as a company commander during the Iraq War."- wiki.
Not exactly.
July 04, 2016, 02:17 PM
showproRight, and Palin was commander in chief of the Alaskan national guard. So what's the point, again?
Please. Thousands and thousands of people serve in the guard. They're not qualified to be VP either.

mbinkySo what makes one qualified? I'd take her 20 years serving in the military over a carreer politician with 20 years of robbing the American public.
July 04, 2016, 02:22 PM
dgwiggansGuess I missed this list of qualifications that got passed around.

Well, look, I'll grant that Trump's running of his family business is at least qualifications of running a decent-sized enterprise. I'm not convinced it translates to running the U.S., but I can go with that thinking.
Reagan, for example, ran the Screen Actor's Guild and then ran the state of California for eight years. All the while, he published myriad opinion pieces and made radio editorials so there was a huge track record to examine with regards to how he thought and how he actually governed. So, he was qualified for the office and it was very clear that he was.
Hillary Clinton has a similar track record to examine having spent 8 years in the White House with her husband, a voting record in the Senate, and serving as secretary of state. We can look at her record and decide she's a nightmare, but there's a record there to examine.
How does serving in the guard amount to that sort of record?

Sure, that move worked great for John McCain. Let's try that.
Right, because every female is a Sarah Palin, right? Being female doesn't qualify her for VP, but it doesn't disqualify her either. Do you know much about her? I didn't. But what I have learned is impressive, and Trump interviewed her recently.
Why put her down?

dgwiggansLike it or not, she has a record in county, state, & federally elected positions. Additionally, 23 years in the service (Reserves, Guard, & active duty). Probably have to go back to Ike, to find some one who has served for more years. I don't know if she's going to be the "pick" but I'd say she's qualified.

Fla. JimHere are the Qualifications, and the only "official" qualifications

Because it's what he does about once a month or so for about the last year: come into this thread, stir up some shit, say snide or insulting things about Trump and his supporters, get warned to chill out, and then slink away for a month or so until he can't help himself.

Every time you say "Trumpbot," do you think, "President Hillary Clinton?" Maybe you should try that.

No, you use whatever mode of locomotion that snails use.....you know, the one that leaves that slimy trail behind.

showproJoni has an impressive career. I don't want to denigrate her. She's a great American and no doubt loves her country.
But the Presidency isn't amateur hour, which is unfortunately what we've been dealing with for the past 8 years. So forgive me for wanting to see someone with some real intellectual heft in there.
As for how I end up commenting in this thread, it's usually something more like: I'm busy, I don't read SigForum for a while, a weekend or time off comes around where I have some time, I stumble upon whatever is going on here, and yes, can't help but comment on it. Then, I get busy again. If that's slinking or sliming or whatev, fine.

And to be clear, this is what I called "TrumpBot". Don't you think that reads like the output from a chatbot? I could pull dozens of other such phrases that I see over and over again from Trump supporters and have a bot just spew them out randomly onto Twitter or something. It would look exactly like this.
July 04, 2016, 05:24 PM
justjoeHow about Hillary supporters, showpro? Any phrases from them bother you? And you do realize that it's going to be Trump or Hillary, right? Given that choice, what bothers you is-- that Trump supporters don't post more elegantly turned phrases?
If you had any real awareness of what a President Hillary Clinton would mean for this nation, you would wish for more TrumpBots.
