Seriously, you're giving Trump way too much credit in this regard. He rarely looks deeper than what is right there on the surface, at least when he's going off the cuff. His knee jerk reaction is to simply react in a very unrefined, shallow manner. When he mocked a cripple, what exactly was the " quality of perception" he was projecting then, huh?

Trump has political experts rewriting their books every day. I raised the "sexist" spin that you seemed to bring - a spin that is unwarranted in my view.

Political commentators have noted that Trump has an uncanny way of catching the heart of a matter in an almost intuitive way. But, those that know hm say that he reads and listens a lot.

Your allegation that Trump looks no deeper than the surface seems to be simply a line that you've repeated from elsewhere. All that know Trump say that he is a rather deep thinker. So, you offer that those people don't know him but somehow you do by reading headlines, observing limited video of some of his comments and listening to talking heads? That someone responds quickly does not mean they are shallow.

But, again, you did not address why or how Trump is sexist because of what he said to Carly or retweeted about spilling "the beans" about Cruz' wife.

Now, you wish to add another matter - the person you term as the "cripple" without addressing the question/issue already to be examined. The "cripple" is another issue but can we address the sexist issue first?

I know this will not fly well here, but real scumbag/douchebag move by Trump. Not a MAN here would put up with that shit. Bad, bad move - if you have a problem with a man, you take it up with the man, you leave his wife the hell out of it. Scumbag move.

Whose wife was brought in first? Which side decided that it was OK to do that?

Being obtuse doesn't suit you, Tubetone.

Dang. And, I thought I was mostly equilateral. Wink

I can see your thought and criticism but what someone actually says means something to me too. Trump says so many things that I wouldn't but I see a rush to put spin on so many of the things Trump says or does that have a limited point but are blown way past reasonable in light of the facts.

I just don't think that Trump's retweet was near what it's being spun into. And, I do not see Cruz' indignation level to be warranted. Melania and Heidi have put themselves into the campaign in a variety of ways so everyone needs to have a thicker skin about it all.

I'll get a block and tackle to try to better my angles for you. If you believe my point is obtuse, I have obviously failed to communicate it well.

I suppose you mean the PAC that ran the ad about Trump's wife. If I was Cruz I would have denounced it and distanced myself from it. That does not excuse the reaction of Trump. Juvenile and uncalled for. It's one thing to call on another campaign to renounce an ad, it's another to post a juvenile ad to say that your wife is prettier than the other guy's wife. Idiotic and juvenile.

You brought the word sexist into the discussion. Not me. I never implied Trump is sexist. You want pull me into your idea of how this debate should go, but I'm not biting. He attacks people's looks no matter if they are male or female. You're going to deny that? Yes, you already have, haven't you? I believe Trump can indeed be a deep thinker and is a very intelligent man, but in regards to these types of attacks, he's falling back to his banal instincts.

Put up with what? This is a campaign for POTUS. This is the dirtiest game on the planet. To think otherwise is hopelessly naive.

Not even a tiny bit naive here. I know the stakes, I know the game and this move by Trump was juvenile and beneath contempt.

YMMV

Wait wait wait, what? I have no reason whatsoever to have to defend my vote. Not to anyone.

You missed the point. No one asked you to defend anything. The question was for you to consider that you may not be able to discuss the matters because you have already voted and made up your mind.

I had a history class once by a preeminent scholar who said he would not publish until after he died. Until then, he had peers review his work and put things in articles to test his views. He had filing cabinets of books to be published on his death. His view was that he saw so many people publish early in their careers and they seemed to spend the rest of the lives defending what they wrote. He wanted to avoid that.

If you have already voted and decided, you may just be defending a decision and vote you already made. It may make you less able to consider any other ideas.

Didn't check, but can I assume you are over in the Cruz thread saying how much of a scumbag he is because of his people bringing up Trumps wife.....first?

No, I know what you meant. And that's not the case at all. I've made no bones that Cruz is my guy during the primaries. That's not changing. But I also don't needlessly attack Trump just to elevate my candidate. I will defend what I see as unfairness no matter if it's directed at Cruz or Trump, which I've done numerous times. In this case, I simply think Trump is the bigger wrong doer here. In other cases, I don't. So I am not blinded simply because I already made my vote for Cruz. I can assure you of that.

I would also like to add that I have appreciated your posts and insights during this election cycle. I just happen to disagree with your analysis in this regard.

You can scroll up this page about 6 or 7 posts and see what I said about Cruz.

It's just plain dumb for the two of them to be flinging shit at each other like pissed off monkeys. It does neither of them any good, and only helps Hillary.

But it's clear that Cruz likes to get down dirty, and then back away with his hands raised pledging that he knew nothing-- nothing!-- about any of this....

At this level of politics--as is true of the top level of any organization with wealth and power-- everything is run by the candidate, or by his or her closest advisor who knows-- without needing to ask-- exactly what the candidate approves.

"Yeah, senator, the Corleone family had a lot of buffers."
