I agree. I had hopes that he might be different, but those have gone by the wayside in the past few weeks.

Fr. Morris was put in a difficult spot, but he did state "To suggest that if he said this that he's not Christian...I think that was a mistake and I wish he had not said that." Not exactly defending the Pope as some suggest.

Honestly, I'm inclined to believe that Pope Francis misspoke. I'd venture to guess that what he meant was that the words and actions are not in keeping with Christianity, and this would be accurate.

He's had a long trip and he's not exactly a spring chicken. I heard today that he also raised his voice at a man who grabbed his arm while he was talking to a wheelchair bound child, causing him to fall into the child. He yelled "do not be selfish!". Perhaps he was just worn out and said it without thinking. Who knows?

I'm no Pope Francis fanboy, and some of his comments are certainly off the wall and leftist. I am not convinced that he needs to wade into some of the waters that he seems to like getting his feet wet in. I simply try to separate that from his role as the spiritual leader of my Church. So far I've been able to do that, but I sure would prefer it if he chose to keep his pie hole shut on the other matters. Oddly, I feel the same about Trump.

ETA: Here is what the Pope said:

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not of building bridges, is not Christian. I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that." He then said, "but I give him the benefit of the doubt".

There is a big difference between not being Christian and not being a Christian. Pope Francis did not say that Trump was not a Christian, he stated that he was not Christian if he said these things. He's right.

Back to your regular Catholic bashing.

Not sure if your Trump hatred is making you say stupid things or if you have religious ideology that make it so.

Either way you look like an idiot to anybody with a brain here in these post.

Fuck this commie NWO POS Pope.

You are blind here my friend.

That could be. The chess table may need to be dumped, not just rearranged. I could easily see Trump getting bored of the game in 4 years. I hope he makes a good VP choice.

Wow. This is, without a doubt, the most fascinating Presidential campaign I have ever seen.

Trump owns the media, he has since last fall. And now, thanks to the pope, and just a day before the SC election, he is the man everyone is talking about, yet again. Absolutely amazing.

To the naysayers. The Trump train has left the station...with or without you. And yeah, it's heading for the White House. Smile

And, if one takes the effort to check Google Earth and see what the Vatican really looks like via satellite view, they would see that Trump's social media director is nothing but a photoshopping hack and a liar. But, I suppose it's easier to just never question anything.

That NY Times article is laughably false and is posted as just another attempted hit on Trump. Ridiculous. Look up Pope Leo and the Muslim raids on St. Peter's. Yes, the wall was built to repel Muslim invaders - ironic, isn't it? Pirates and marauders? Big Grin Big Grin The other walls built as cultural statements? LOL, some people actually believe this ignorant drivel?

No offense Gus, but that's the typical Catholic response.

You bet your ass I'd call out my "boss" if he was always talking shit about my country, our culture, our laws, & our leaders. Especially with him living behind a big wall, with personal guards, servants, & gold, (& without refugees) the exact opposite of what he preaches.

Whats the pope gonna do, call down lightning?

There may be a day when American Catholics must choose between their country or the pope. I hope alot of them wake up before then.

I wish you would quit it with this "American Catholics" nonsense. Seriously, I don't even know what the above statement even means. A day when we must choose? What?

No one here can accuse me of "Catholic bashing", and I am here to tell you that this Pope needs to shut his mouth- not just about the United States and not just about our election process. He has ZERO business opening his mouth about such things. I'm saying he needs to STFU altogether, about everything. He is hopelessly biased and nothing he says should be trusted.

Forgive me, but the latest pope is a loud-mouthed, meddling, commie ASSHOLE.

You are exactly right on the Pope. He has proven time and again to support liberal bleeding heart agendas and lives the greatest hypocrisy. He is nothing more than a figure head with vast wealth.

The last President who "owned" the media like this was John Kennedy.

Just sayin'.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Let's hear the Pope expound at length about how the Catholic church has not only become a refuge for pedophiles, it also protects them, covers up for them. When the Pope speaks on this at length and acknowledges the culpability of the church in this kind of aberrant criminal and amoral behavior, then I might be willing to listen to him for five seconds on politics. But, since the Catholic church will never confess their own sins, I don't listen to a damn thing the pope says.

Let's stop calling him Pope and start calling him what he is- a loudmouthed, meddling, pedophile-protecting commie ASSHOLE.

Rather than hearing Trump repeatedly talk about his pole numbers, how everyone lies, how the press is against him, how the Pope is against him, how Cruz is not a Christian, how Bush is weak....

How about what he will actually accomplish if elected, what he believes he will do, a short list of judges he would consider for the open seat. What his plans are for the economy, immigration, health care, cutting government spending, taxes, "this is what I will do, and how I will do it"

He put his name in the hat in June of 2015, as of this date he has not floated on rational idea on how he would run the country. Not one.

It seems that some people hate Trump so much that they have become blind and deaf.

He has provide exactly as much detail as any of the other contenders.
