Too bad they don't all have to announce their running mates now and lock them in, but as of right now we have no idea if it will be Brown or anybody else. The waters would be a lot less dirtied if some of the other candidates that don't have a chance weren't tearing down other candidates in an attempt to be picked as Another candidates VP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." I don't think he actually meant it about either of them, but I'd like someone to ask him because they are important things. Donald, you floated Senator Brown as a potential VP. Is that someone you would actually consider and what are you looking for in a running mate? You also floated your sister who has a far left position on partial birth abortion. What previous rulings or positions would disqualify someone from being a potential SC nominee? Would you please go into detail describing what are you looking for in a nominee? Again, I'm open to what he has to say.

Maryanne Trump Bailey - "“…In what can only be described as a desperate attempt to circumvent over twenty-five years of abortion jurisprudence, the Legislature would draw a line based upon the location in the woman’s body where the fetus expires,” Barry continued. “Establishing the cervix as the demarcation line between abortion and infanticide is nonsensical on its face as well as inaccurate because that line may be crossed in any number of abortion procedures which the Legislature concedes are constitutionally protected.… The Legislature’s attempt to label the Act a birth, instead of an abortion, regulation is nothing more than an effort to cloud the issues and avoid clear precedent.” I take that as, if it's deemed legal, then it's all legal. No sense in establishing any boundaries to obscure or cloud a womans' right to an abortion.

Actually, the longer excerpt makes her sound even worse and definitely shows her support for partial birth abortion. She's basically saying "how dare they call it a life just because it is leaving the cervix. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Agreed, cobrajet. "Actually, the longer excerpt makes her sound even worse and definitely shows her support for partial birth abortion. She's basically saying "how dare they call it a life just because it is leaving the cervix." Hadley Arkes was one of the authors of the Partial Birth Ban that MTB ruled against. His comments on writing the Ban "I was fascinated by the arguments, by some of the sophistry, and by the connection to slavery. You take a whole class of human beings and shift the label: It’s not a human being; it’s a “nigger.” Remember Huck Finn: “How come you’re late?” “The steamboat blew.” “Anybody hurt?” “No man, just a nigger killed.” “Wow, that’s a good thing, sometimes people get hurt in these things.” Good thing MTB doesn't consider a fetus a living being that can't be aborted at birth, that would be a terrible thing if it were a living being. Apologies for the thread drift. I'm done.

Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
You dudes are free to despise abortions all you like, and supporters of them, but if you think it's advantageous to our overall chances to win the Presidency to make an issue of it you're off your rockers. And niggers, really? That's an absurd stretch of epic proportions.

It'd be nice to have a leader in office with some consistent views in their past. As far as the quote from Huck Finn, I forgot it's not PC. you might have missed the context on that one.

I liked it better when abortion was verboten on this forum, personally.

I didn't miss anything, hero, nor am I offended by the word nigger. What I'm fucking annoyed by is the despicable linking of racial epithets in a faggoty fucking emotional way to the very topic of abortions, already contentious enough without such bullshit, vis a vis that fucking horseshit. And on a day like today... Grrrrrr. I'm in no fucking mood for it. I'm out for now, before this gets ugly fast.

After Mr. Trump's performace in the "debate" tonight, do you still think he's got the right temperment to be POTUS? Cruz keeps looking better and better. Thanks, Sap

First off, if you don't think being pro abortion will seriously hurt a Republicans votes, you're off your rocker. Trumps only advantage is nobody really knows where he stands on anything so a ton of people have no idea. Second, you can be pro abortion all you want and we can still get along, but if you really think partial birth abortion is fine and dandy as well and see no difference, well I'd better not tell you what I think if you are so easily offended by a quote out of a book. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Interesting the topic has shifted from what trump has said in his campaign about his Platform. To what he has said in the past supposedly with out reference, to what his sister said supposedly to what his sisters judicial opinion is. As if the two people were one. Yes they may very well share some thoughts and ideas. Yet to put this into perspective imagine them talking to each other over thanksggiving dinner.

When it comes to SCOTUS appointments, do you not think who he chooses is important? And as far as the partial birth abortion thing goes, her views are his views, at least according to everything he's ever said until he decided to run. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Bad dog! |
Let's see if we can talk about things without the personal attacks and insults, gents. What got the debate off in a bad direction was that the audience was packed, front and center, with GOPe donors. The first time Trump spoke, they let loose a chorus of boos and catcalls. Trump got a bit of this kind of thing in Iowa, but last night's was much stronger-- louder, more raucous. You could see him almost flinch as if he'd been punched. You might say that at that point he should have exercised self control. He should have responded, but calmly, rationally. In other words, he should not have been Donald Effing Trump. But you punch Trump, and he punches back, harder. It wasn't pretty. It's too bad that presidential debates have become entertainment blood sports. The dignity of the office of POTUS has been soiled in so many ways in the past 8 years, and "debates" are just one more example. ______________________________________________________ "You get much farther with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone."

And yet otherwise sensible people ask why candidates refuse to participate in them. They contribute nothing worthwhile to the process of determining who is best suited for the office. ► 6.4/93.6 “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

I disagree. Last night's debate made it very clear who is best suited for the office. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.
