Government employees aren’t going to quit if Trump is elected any more than all the leftists who threatened (promised?) to leave the US will do so. Pink unicorns will fly out of my butt before that happens.

And the ACA has gone too far even in its fundamentally flawed state for it to be simply repealed. If anyone who is opposed to it is elected, at best they will have to try to figure out a way to correct its most egregious features.

You can lead a horse to water, and if you hold his head under long enough, you won’t have to put up with his hotel sierra any more.

Nearly a 3-way tie, with about 3% or less difference between Cruz, Trump, and Rubio.

Looks like Cruz will win Iowa, but not at all decisively.

I was hoping for something more one sided, on either side.

Well, he won by 4% in a race all the polls showed he was supposed to lose. It's interesting there was higher than expected turnout, but it went to him instead of Trump. He really has a good ground game. All it means is Cruz is alive in the race and the discussion can continue. I wish Rubio didn't surge as much as he did because all we'll hear now is Rubio Rubio Rubio.

At the end of the day we are where we were when we woke up. Trump is the favorite and Cruz and Rubio are the only other two contenders. I'd like to see a few more people drop out.

I think we will see most of the conventional Republicans converge behind Rubio now that he's the last one standing (of the "mainstream" Republicans). I personally like Cruz better than either of the other two primary winners, but between being hated by his own party, and Trump's money, he's gonna be squeezed pretty hard.

I thought Trump gave a pitch-perfect speech. He even seemed humbled by the process. I imagine having your first real vote, in a presidential race no less, and having real people turn out to vote for you must be a very touching experience.

A quarter of federal government employees say they would consider leaving their jobs if Donald Trump were to become president, according to a new poll.

About 14 percent of respondents — many of which are from government agencies’ top ranks — said they would definitely consider leaving, according to a poll conducted by the Government Business Council. Another 11 percent said they might consider leaving.
Among Democrats, 42 percent said they would consider quitting, while 48 percent said they would not.

Eight percent of Republican federal government workers said they would not work under the real estate tycoon as president.

About 6 in 10 overall would be “embarrassed” to work under President Trump.

The poll was conducted Jan. 20-26 and surveyed 688 federal employees. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percent.

^^^This. A win by that percentage in November would be called a "landslide".

Mr. Trump didn't show as well as he expected to. This shows that enough conservatives see through his smoke screen to deny a pro-universal health care, pro-aborton, luke-warm Second Amendment supporter the Republican nomination.

I have heard several people mention that Rubio's hopes now lie in New Hampshire, and that Cruz isn't expected to do well there.

Reportedly Huckabee's out, and it is well known that he hates Cruz, so I expect he will throw his support to Rubio.

That means, for Trump to do well, he's actually got to go after Rubio rather than Cruz in New Hampshire. To do so will dilute votes between the other establishment candidates - Christie, Jeb, Kasich.

Also don't forget that Cruz is leading by a large margin in Texas, which holds a lot of delegates.

It's interesting to watch.

The fact that Cruz shit ALL OVER ethanol subsidies in the corn capital of the world and still won is the most impressive thing I saw yesterday.

The most depressing is that the other side split the vote 50/50 between an avowed socialist and a felon.

Trump was much more gracious in his speech than I expected. If he maintains that humble of an attitude for the rest of the way, he'll pick up a lot of steam.

Talking to others throughout the day in rural Iowa (BTW I am an independent so could not participate in the caucuses), Cruz or Rubio did not come up, Trump did. Most liked what he was doing, annoying the system, but they were unsure of him, because he was not a traditional career politician, which shows how broken the system is!
BTW, learned Republican caucuses are different than democrat. Republicans show up and vote on a piece of paper/ ballot, Democrats meet, talk/caucus, caucus/talk, try to reach consensus. This was from the head of my county Republican committee.
