I thought I heard a blurb on the radio today that Bolton was meeting with Trump but I haven't seen it reported anywhere. Can anyone confirm?
Trump has made such fantastic picks so far I'd hate to see him piss away Secretary of State on Romney when someone of the caliber of Bolton is available.

Fox reported (with video) that Bolton was at the Tower Of Power today.

This is perhaps the first time in American history where a general campaign loser gets to keep their USSS protection detail, due to Hillary being Bill's spouse. Man I can't wait for that memoir in a decade or two. Also, who would you need to piss off to get on that detail?

Bolton has been my preferred choice for Secretary of State for many years now and I really hope he gets the nod.

Although, Rand Paul has gone on record saying that he will do whatever it takes to stop his confirmation, even if he has to stand alone to do it. Now, I don't know if one lone Senator has the ability to do this or not, but there is real hatred there and if he can he will. And that would really piss me off. I've never cared for Rand Paul (or his father for that matter), and this would solidify my feelings on the guy.

Thanks for the General Mattis interview video Pale Horse. Very happy that he's going to be SecDef. Finding, and empowering good people is an essential executive function, and Trump is doing a great job of that.

I have a question on Mattis

I agree - he's the ultimate choice but I recall reading somewhere a long time ago that former general officers are prohibited by law from holding a cabinet position unless they have been retired for more than 8 years

trying to find it but perhaps someone already knows....

An exception has to be made, which has happened before. There's a process...

It is 7 years unless granted a waiver by Congress. Gen. George Marshall was the last (and first) retired general to hold the post and he was granted a waiver. Word is both the house and senate armed services comitee's have already drafted the required legislation.

7 years. The congress would probably have to write an exception into law.

He does need a waiver but they have done it once before. McCain is going to write it and the Rebublicans only need a few democrats to agree to it for it to pass. He is pretty well respected on both sides so it should be possible.
