I'm really fed up with this whole "immigration" word game. My grandparents were immigrants. They went through a long process to become citizens, which was a proud moment. They were happy to be in America, and wanted their kids to adapt, to get an education, a good job, and fit into this great life in the new country. THAT is an immigrant.
You come across a border against the law and you are not an immigrant, not even an "illegal immigrant," since the first term is incompatible with the second-- you are an INVADER. Big fucking difference. All the difference in the world. But that simple and crucial distinction is lost on liberals, even those at South Park-- they just for the life of them can't get it.
Then you demand that the country you invaded give you money, food, an education and medical care. And pretty soon you begin to tell the people who live in the country you invaded-- whose country it is-- that they can't say "guac" or refer to "sombreros" or "fiestas"...etc etc. because they-- the ones who are providing the money, education, health care-- are all racists and bigots. You say this even as the worst among you rob, rape and murder citizens of the country you invaded.
You want to know why Trump is leading in the polls, South Park? Do you really need a clue?
EXCELLENT post!!!

Yup, last week it was Social Justice Warriors, in the past they've done Scientology and Islam, anti-smoking Nazis, just about everybody. So, when they go after "your guy," don't worry, because next week they'll hit something you'd like to see lampooned.

egregore↑ Word.

Satire isn't just for things you don't like. It has to be OK for everybody, or not OK for anybody.

Does South Park do it to

entropyThe daytime chic on Classic Rewind was nipping at him yesterday. This is the second or third time she's injected political comments into her between-the-songs babble. I just might email them and let them know she should stickmto telling factoids about Axel Rhodes.

justjoePara's comment goes to the heart of satire-- "Do they do that to
themselves?" No, of course they don't. The great satirists of the past have not attacked scattershot in every direction, as South Park does. Jonathan Swift, for example, one of the satiric geniuses, had a very clear satiric point of view, clear political values, that can be discerned from his satires. In fact, he wanted to be sure that his point of view could be discerned.
I've seen many South Park episodes that I thought were hilarious, and not all of them let's say friendly to my own values. But it's a limitation of theirs as satirists, not a strength, that they are all over the place with their targets. No doubt it helps ratings, because everybody is thrown a bone. But the best satire, the most lasting, has always been let's say "activist," advocating for change in specific directions.
A Modest Proposal dealt with the growing trend in politics to view everything from a narrow economic perspective. So Swift proposed dealing with the problem of the poor on the basis of that model, pushed to a ridiculous extreme: We can eat them. If the next month he attacked those who were advocating humane treatment of the poor, he might have enlarged his readership, but diminished his social voice.
South Park has great ratings. They crank out consistently funny shows. And that's fine. They are entertainers-- not satirists.

justjoeLast week Fox repeated over and over that Trump was fading-- that was the operative word,
fading. But he still doing very well indeed, no "fading" at all in the polls. Jeb!-- Fox's boy-- is sixth in the polls.

I think Fox has given up on Jeb. He's going no where. They are sniffing the wind for Carly or Carson. Carly has her business past that Boxer used to take her down and it will happen again when the time is appropriate.
Carson excites no one. He may say the right thing but he does it while peeking around a half closed door. He gives me the impression the office would be over whelming for him.
I'm still cringing over Trumps response to how he would handle Putin. "We would talk and we would get along". C'mon Donald that's not what I want to hear from you.

It's mainly Megyn Kelly who is pumping that narrative.
She leads everyday with a smirk about Trump losing ground...etc.
Could be the reason Trump is snuffing Fox.

Il CattivoSnubbing. Murdoch's pockets are deep enough that Trump can't actually kill FOX.
