Donald Trump is a first-rate ass clown, but...
Trump supporters by and large are not doing violent things. It's a silly narrative.

The Cynical Rhetoric of Corruption

President-elect Trump is an executive and operates by achieving objectives. It does not seem to me that he is primarily paying off his supporters. Indeed, serving in government may be a pay loss and burden for selectees compared to what they are doing now. Giuliani, for instance, does well with his security and other work. And, Trump’s offspring have good lives in private. Some are in retirement or otherwise engaged to serve the nation.

It may be that people are being selected because they will help Mr. Trump lead the country. The judgment and tenacity of some of his selectees have been tested in the fires of his campaign. He has seen their character and what they are made of and how they navigate in crisis. And, more importantly, Trump has seen how they have given him advise and reproof while still remaining part of a team to solve thorny problems.

It is not pay-off or reward but the demonstrated quality of his selections that have elevated these people. Trump, as well as all other presidents, need a team to help them turn their promises to the American people into a reality.

Instead of taking the cynical view of seeing his selections as pay-offs and the rhetoric of the naysayers, maybe a better way of looking at his selections is to see Trump as assembling a team that will help him get things done.

I rather believe that Trump is a management by objectives kind of executive. It is reported that in his business endeavors, he selects strong leaders, gives them responsibility and then holds them accountable.

His ultimate measure is “results” and if you get in the way of results, you are removed like Lewandowski, Manafort and Christie. All those people were very loyal but they got in the way of success in the positions they had at the time and they were removed.

When referring to Trump’s selection process as a “pay-off” to his loyal insiders, the media and others have returned to the only thing they have seen for years: corruption. They have merely replaced “paying off campaign loyalists” for “paying off lobbyists.” For some, the premise is that you only get positions as some sort of pay-off. Blagojevich seemed so shocked that such thinking was wrong.

For many, it’s a mindblowing idea that people would be selected based on their skills for Making America Great Again.

Re: "white nationalist" accusation. The word is Patriot!

But they are just playing to their base and using the radical playbook, trying to define their enemies on their terms and force Trump to defend every decision.

Yeah, the answer for them is always to turn left and call someone a racist/sexist/homophobe/etc.

Don't forget that pretty much the entire media has been wrong about Trump, hundreds of times over, for the past 18 months. If you look at the early days of this forum, many of us or wrong about Trump as well. Let's give the guy a chance!

Now, you all know I pray a lot, but all of my prayers regarding this election contained one theme only, and I never mentioned names.

I prayed to Jesus Christ to intercede with the Father for one specific purpose:
Please save the Republic.

And He did.
He did it through the voters by giving them the good sense to elect Trump.

Amen.

Good answers here by Rudy. He addresses the professional communist agitators still rioting in major leftist cities. Rudy Giuliani is very well recognized throughout the world, and he comes across as a forceful character. I'd be glad if Trump found a place for him in his administration.

I believe the new president has to bring on the next generation of "Trump-ish" Republicans as a priority. The Solid South went Republican more than a generation ago. So can the Mid-West and the rustbelt.

There are rumors of him being considered for Sec.of State, but I truly believe Giuliani is destined for AG. He is perfect for the job, and would have no problem passing confirmation.

I heard that too, but I'm personally hoping he becomes Attorney General.

I just really want to see John Bolton as Secretary of State.

This is a new and different direction.
Trump wants to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization that may also include CAIR.
