After Nixon beat Humphrey who was a reasonably reasonable candidate by my standards of the time, the Democrats reacted four years later in 1972 by nominating George McGovern. It seems that when the Republicans are successful with a candidate that the Democrats hate with particular passion, they (the Democrats) respond by nominating someone even further out than the one who lost the previous time. During this campaign I first thought it was the Republicans who were going to try on that tactic for size, but of course the Democrats chose someone who was not just eccentric, but off the scale by any normal standard. It will be very interesting to see what the Dims do next time; will it be back to a more centrist position, or even crazier?

It looks like that Reince Priebus will indeed be Trump's Chief of Staff. Being reported now.

The two men were identified as 32-year-old Wilson Echevarria and 36-year-old Anthony Hobdy, both of Meriden. Police say Hobdy had 54 bags of heroin packaged for sale on him at the time of the arrest and was wanted on four separate warrants.

If they are here illegally they will now have a record. Trump WILL deport them when they pull their time!
