I get a new Haley Micro chest rig. It has the insert for three 5.56NATO magazines that also fits six MP5 magazines very well. BUT, the x-harness isn't comfy. I get an h-harness to replace it.

To test it out, I do what any normal human being would do- I load it with six loaded MP5 mags, put in on, and start cooking dinner. Chana masala, if you are interested.

My 10yr old daughter walks in and announces to the family that she "likes Dad's new bra". Red Face

Kids. Cool

What do you like for chest rigs and setups??

Check out the Haley flatpacks. https://haleystrategic.com/flatpack

They're designed to attach to the buckles on their chest rigs, and act like H harnesses.

This gives you additional rear storage alongside a more comfortable fit. Plus, you can unbuckle the micro rig and stash it inside the pack, so you can store/carry the gear unobtrusively.

I use a Flatpack with my (non-Haley) micro chest rig, when it's not being used on my plate carrier.

Their packs are pretty sweet. That may be the next purchase. Even sticking a hydration pack in there would be handy. I have the h-harness for range use; I don't want a pack interfering with my sling.

I'm waiting on a Toor Serpent T knife and may mount it to their molle side panels.

^^^ My upgraded model holds 180 rounds of 9mm AND 90 rounds of 5.56, in addition to providing support and boosting my confidence! Smile

The extra weight actually helped with the rhythm when I was kneading the bhature dough! I'm not a vegetarian, but this chana masala and fry bread is amazing.

I picked up a Helikon-Tex TMR (Training Mini Rig) a few months back. Haven't used it a whole lot, but I like it so far. Isn't so much a "training" rig for me as a night hike replacement for a backpack. My only real complaint, and it's a minor one, is that some of the materials aren't NIR compliant. Again, minor. Some of the plain OD webbing, the backing for the zippers, etc. Small stuff that glows white under NV. For my purposes night hiking with the guys, it's not a problem, but it's worth mentioning I guess.

I need to do some looking into integrating a hydration bladder on the back. I have a surplus one I threw over it for our last outing, but it was too many straps everywhere. Otherwise, I like it a lot. Plenty of room for the various things you'd want with four rifle mag pouches, and both an admin pouch and a dangler. First aid, snacks, batteries, multitool, radio, pistol mags, chemlights, etc. Good stuff.

*Edit - Man, now I'm looking around at options and found the Qore Chest Rig Hydration Pack, which would be ideal for my situation hiking around in the desert, but it's three hundred flippin' dollars. Eek

I wanted to be slightly less tactical in appearance so I went with the 5.11 2 Banger Bag. If I burn through 3 mags, its "feet don't fail me now"!

I’m not necessarily focused on SHTF situations; competition or just fun at the range are all good reasons.

I have a Source Tactical Razor 3l Hydration Pack on two plate carriers. It's a low profile, high quality design and attaches easily to molle. The Razor is well designed, constructed of durable materials and Made in Israel, where hydration for their warfighters is absolutely paramount.

Oh, and it can be had for a little over $100... Cool

^^^ Those look very nicely designed! The quick detach buckles for attaching to MOLLE are a nice touch.
