Um, okay.

Seems like the 2024 Olympics has added breakdancing to the lineup.

Who would have thought MC Hammer could win a gold medal.

Your thoughts?

Wonder what other "sports" could be added as Olympic events?

First let me make it clear, break dancing is not Olympic’s worthy, nor is it an event or sport. I will say that I’ve watched enough to know I couldn’t do it and some of what the performers do is indeed impressive.

But it makes a mockery of what summer olympics events are supposed to be. But it doesn’t surprise me, probably has something to do with we gotta appeal to a new generation or gotta up those ratings.

strippers said to the break dancers: "hold my beer..." Pole dancing is working to be next at the Olympics.

the IPSF’s goal is to become a global, relevant sport for its athletes and one day become a recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

My understanding is they were planning on getting rid of wrestling, quite possibly the MOST Olympic event. Wink

Has that happened yet? Roll Eyes

I'd say it's as much of a sport as figure skating, synchronized swimming and gymnastics floor routines. Those are 'dancing' as well and their participants do (athletic) things that the average person simply can not physically do. *shrug*

On one hand, I could care less, the Olympics while positive for places like Barcelona and Sydney, the organization showed itself to be a cabal of sanctimonious, elitists, that gladly accepted bribes and attempted to be social engineers with awarding of games. These assholes insisted they be fetted like heads of state Mad. They could add snail racing for all I care.

On the other hand, I play a variety of sports and as a youth, the Olympics was must see TV. The ceremonies were interesting but, it was the achievements, the history and all that was wrapped up in it that captured my attention. Swimming, skiing, wrestling, track & field, various ball sports and team sports...legitimate sports. Now it appears the pendulum of idiocy is swinging once again, I remember when rhythmic dance and trampoline became official sports Red Face, now due to the broken and declining governing bodies of boxing and weightlifting, break-dancing is now included...under the guise of including 'urban activities' Roll Eyes

I've got to respectfully disagree with you guys. I don't see much difference between this and a gymnastics floor routine.
