For some reason I just told my wife that I once stopped at the Doubletree in Fayetteville NC years ago when driving my mom's car to Florida for her. So we planned our trip and this works out as a good spot for us to stop, about 12 hours of driving.

Edit, wife booked Springhill Suites by Marriot. Just to sleep. Seems good enough but we can cancel if needed.

These go to eleven.

We stayed there for a week at a time the past few summers while my son and his family were at Fort Bragg. Never had any issues.

Not minority enough!

Well while I was posting this, my wife searched reviews and ended up booking Springhill Suites, right near the Doubletree. It's a newer hotel. So I guess we are staying there. We were initially going to wing it and see when we wanted to stop. But after discussing it, we decided it was best to have a destination and not be tempted to drive further when we are too tired.

Very small sample size, the last two double trees I stayed in were extremely run down, one had mice.

Edit, nevermind I guess you've already selected.

Yeah, sorry about that. My wife jumped the gun. The reviews on Tripadvisor confirmed your assessment of the Doubletree. Run down. I stayed there quite a few years ago (like 15 years at least). So I guess getting the new hotel run by Marriot makes sense.

Just don’t get lost in Fayetteville. Lots of really rough areas. Everyone I know that has lived there calls it Fayettenam.

We will likely be stopping at the hotel, potential meal at closest place (unless we stop earlier), sleeping and leaving.

Springhill Suites are usually pretty solid, I've never come across a ratty or, run-down location. Where its located, that's another story, food options probably range from corporate thematic chains to being located in a business park or, near an attraction..which means corporate theme food venue Roll Eyes

Yeah there's just a cracker barrel near it. It's also new enough that it's not on Google's satellite image. This is a travel stop. We will have been driving for 12 hours so we aren't looking for great eats or entertainment.

That being said I doubt we will eat there. We will likely be hungry a few hours before we arrive and stop on the way somewhere else. Maybe I can find some good BBQ a couple hours north of Fayetteville.

That exit is all newish or newly refurbed hotels.

Ruby Tuesday down the street on the other side of the interstate.

It's as safe as anywhere around. We go to that Cracker Barrel regularly and I don't think twice about it.
