Well that stinks. Now with that the sportsman’s Warehouse locations will be closed or filled up with BPS and/or Cabelas stuff. This message has been edited. Don't mind me, I confused Sportsmans Warehouse with Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore.... Did not mean to speak poorly about Sportsmans Warehouse. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Dreamerx4,

In our area, we’ll probably be stuck with Bass Pro in the end. A beautiful Cabelas was opened about a year before the Bass Pro fiasco. It was across the road and closed. SW is a few miles from Basspro.

Sportsman's Warehouse = The Sports Authority of the hook n'bullet world. Only Big 5 goes lower, and nobody beats Big 5 when it comes to pricing and variety.

When I moved to Anchorage, AK, the only big box outdoor sports store was SMW. They actually had a good inventory of hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting goods. Regular shooting sports not associated with hunting was OK, but I was able to stack 5.56 deep when it was cheap. Decent prices too. Having inventory is important in Alaska because goods arrive by ship from Seattle so if a store is out it's a minimum 3 weeks to be resupplied. There was another in Wasyphilis and another in Sterling so if you were doing something outdoors related up North or down South you could likely find what you forgot or broke at a decent price. Right before I moved away, Bass Pro Shops built a store on the north side of Anchorage and Cabela's built a store on the south side of Anchorage. Bass Pro Shops selling boats was nice for consumers. This was all before their merger, and I'm sure it hurt SMW. As of today, the 3 SMW locations are open and so is BPS and Cabela's. The south Anchorage SMW and Cabela's are 1.6 miles apart so I'm betting one of them closes. Less competition won't be good for residents or tourists.
