I tried baking a dessert in a Dutch oven yesterday that consisted of cookie dough on the bottom, oreos and chocolate chips on top of that and finally a layer of brownie batter.
Oven was at 240° and I baked it for 35 minutes.
The reason I picked 240° was because that temperature is in between what the cookie dough and brownie mix calls for.
After 35 minutes, I took it out of the oven and let it cool. It looked done to me but after cutting into it, I noticed that in the center top of the brownie mix, it was still not fully baked. The edges and most of the way in was fine but not all the way through.
Should I have put the lid on the Dutch oven? 45 minutes perhaps?
1st time doing this and all I had to go on was a very short video with no explanation of time or temperature.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Without seeing the recipe, 240 seems really low for succesfully baking anything.

If the outsides were done though it may just have needed more time.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Well, I feel really dumb now. I just looked at the package of cookie dough and it says 350° and the brownie mix says 325°. I completely read it wrong. Oof.
Probably should have put on my reading glasses.
I'm betting 340° would have worked. Roll Eyes

Yeah, 200-300 isn't baking temperature.

That is "low and slow for hours" temperature, like in a crockpot or smoker.

Low temp and using that dutch oven may slow your cooking down also. Did you pre-heat the dutch oven?

Too low and not long enough. Baking is usually between 325 and 350.

Eek I'm trying to eat better, then you go and post something like this.

Dear GOD, man.

Hahahaha, sorry.
I'm gonna give this a go again this weekend and I'm pretty sure after my collosal screw up that it'll turn out fine.

Was thinking this too.
The lid should keep most of the heat in and cook it more evenly than if the lid is off.

Well, the good news is that now you get to try the recipe again and you can be just as excited as you were waiting the first time!

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
