From the files of you can’t make this up. Sheriff Hayden retired first of the month for a quiet life outside of law enforcement. He gets a new phone and number. Apparently the person who had the number failed to notify their dealer that they no longer had that number....

PADUCAH - A Metropolis man was arrested Saturday after deputies say he mistakenly sent a text offering to sell pills to retired McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says Hayden began receiving text messages from an unknown person who was wanting to sell pills. Hayden contacted a drug detective who identified the man sending the texts as 37-year-old Jakeob Smejkal of Metropolis.

Under the direction of detectives, Hayden texted the man back and agreed to meet him on the parking lot of a gas station at 5435 Cairo Road to purchase pills.

Deputies drove to the gas station where they located and stopped Smejkal in the parking lot. They seized 20 doses of Adderall from Smejkal that he reportedly admitted he intended to sell.

Smejkal was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail. He's charged with 2nd degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

That's just funny, right there! LOL

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

My son asked a question one day that caused me to bust out laughing. He asked if Metroplis is known for Superman, and in the DC universe Gotham City is right across the bridge, does that mean Batman hangs out in Paducah?

Without missing a beat I replied “I’m Batman” Big Grin

"Smejkal"?

Isn't that some kind of cheesey exudate that accumulates under the foreskin?
