Ok guys. Picked the truck up Friday. Put in the shop over the week end. So we are three days into it with the only miles being the 85 mile trip home. When picking it up I noticed the drivers door would not close with normal pressure. The Salesman was standing right there and he said it is just stiff since new. Seemed logical. Yesterday I was looking at the door to see if it was misaligned. That led to me looking over the truck more closely. In a nutshell this truck has been wrecked or damaged between rolling out of the factory and arriving at dealer. There is no way this would have exited the factory like this. The hood is misaligned and cocked to one side. Both front fenders are jacked. The drivers side sticks out a good 1/4" from the headlight housing. On the passenger side front fender the gap between the fender and the door is twice the distance of the other side. The drivers door is also jacked compared to the passenger side. I am shocked. The truck looked new and was represented as such so I did not feel a need to go over it there with a discerning eye. I texted the salesman sat. when I got home about the door needing an adjustment. That was before going over it and discovering this. I am headed the 85 mile one way trip in this morning and going to request a meeting with the general manager. I love the truck and how it is configured but plan on leaving it and telling them I will not accept it as a new truck. I did not buy a damaged unit, but rather a brand new one and will not accept any king of repaired version. Guess my wife will have to make the trip to pick me up. They will not have any kind of replacement there for it. I did meet with the GM on Fri. as he came out to introduce himself and to tell me how important a 5 star rating is for them when I receive a request for one from Ford. And not to hesitate to contact him for any reason. We have taken pix but seeing the vehicle in person is the only way to see very well what I am describing. This is a bit of a unique truck and am guessing the dealer it came from in the dealer trade had ordered it for a particular person. They either rejected it or backed out and that is how it was acquired by my dealer. I think it was damaged there and my dealer went and got it last monday and probably did not go over it well. Just my guess. I would like to get your thoughts about this. I will be at the dealer in a couple hours. Help a brother out. I am assuming my dealer is going to be understanding, but maybe not??? I am pretty sure Ford would not want one of their customers receiving a new/damaged truck. Thanks guys. I really did not need this. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I would have sent pics and waited for a promise to fix before heading there Have you checked underneath the truck a looked for signs of damage? In GA, a repair over $500 is required by law to be disclosed. My Google FU says 5% damage based on vehicle value for MT It is odd that the truck panels are out of alignment like that. I haven't seen a problem in years except for the Express van, I guess it's because it's a really old design, like 30 years

Given that it's a new truck, I'd think Ford/dealer will make it right. I'd imagine they have some 3-5 day back-out protection The Enemy's gate is down.

In WI, a buyer has a 3 day window after buying, to return the vehicle, few questions asked. I know this is for used, may be new as well, business days. Check your laws. I had an issue with a dealer decades ago. When the manager was stalling, I went right to Detroit and the BBB. After that they changed their tune.

Compare those fender and hood gaps with another new truck on the lot. Maybe they are all like that and you just need to have the door adjusted.

Thanks guys. Swede, I am not wanting a promise to fix. This was a brand new truck (2024) purchased three days ago. I do not want a brand new (fixed) truck. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

. I can guarantee they are not. This is not how they roll out of the factory. It appears to me the front clip of the truck has been worked on by someone who did not do a very good job. Including the drivers side door. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Agreed, give the dealer a chance to make it right before 'taking your ball & going home' The Enemy's gate is down.

Regardless it's probably a good idea in that if the others are different and in alignment it bolsters your case.

Sounds like the dealer that shipped the truck to your delivering dealer slipped one over on your dealer. Any damage reports were "lost" in the transaction between dealers. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Either the porter wrecked it or it got wrecked by an employee and they sent it to the body shop who did a shit job. I bet if you do more inspecting, you will find bent metal and tool marks under there. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Ask to see records in the service department computer based on the VIN number. Also maybe contact Ford and see what they can find and will disclose. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

The damage could have come from the transporter or the dealer. I think it highly unlikely that the factory would let that kind of damage/repair get out of there. It's a ticking time bomb to them. +1 on inquiry with FORD. You need to speak with the general manager of the dealer first if only just to check the box. I would also call the Ford 800 number and register a complaint. I think to sic Ford on the dealer is the right way to proceed here. Ford also sends out at least two surveys for new owners. One is for Sales, the other is after a first warranty repair and so is Service dept oriented. Mentioning those pending surveys to the dealer GM is recommended as well. They can be a bigger deal than you think to the dealer. Personally, I would want a buyback on something like this. I keep vehicles for decades.

I hope it all works out for you and Ford/the dealership step up to the plate and do the right thing by giving you a new truck. Nobody should pay for a new truck and it arrives damaged before you take delivery.

If you back out, which would certainly be something I'd consider, how do they handle the trade ins? Does your wife need to go with you so the two of you can drive both trucks back? Does the dealer give you cash for the value they gave you on the trades?

Ok guys, met the salesman. Which I like him. He wanted to go look at it so we did. He listened as I point stuff out. He was not shocked and said adjustments would take care of it. Not damaged. I said "ok" sort of. He said let's look at other new trucks they had to see how they looked. We did and everyone had similar issues including a couple raptors, wtf? Off to the body shop they use. Dropped it off there and guy there tells me "we do this all the time" What is up with Ford and quality control. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Certainly shouldn't get past QC at the end of the line, someone isn't doing their job, if you took pictures, then certainly send it up the line to Ford and let them know about it. Glad the dealer is looking at it and going to fix it. Thing is about vehicles damaged prior to sale, none of that ever reaches carfax, it's all fixed in the back and then can be put back on the lot as a new vehicle. Not saying that happened to ORC, just that it does happen.
