A lot of people in the swamp are repositioning themselves a bit these days as a hedge against Trump winning. And I was referencing nonexistent "journalistic standards." lol

Hugh Hewitt? Swamp?

You are absolutely clueless
I would say, yes, the Washington Post is in the midst of the swamp.

I said Hugh Hewitt

Hugh Hewitt being part of “the swamp” is a ridiculous notion.

The Washington Post was not his only gig. I am glad he stood up to their distortion of the truth. I have listened to his radio show and don't agree with everything he says but I still like to hear his views.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Hewitt

Hugh Hewitt (born February 22, 1956) is an American conservative political commentator, radio talk show host with the Salem Radio Network, attorney, academic, and author. He writes about law, society, politics, and media bias in the United States. Hewitt is a former official in the Reagan administration, the former president and CEO of the Richard Nixon Foundation, a law professor at Chapman University School of Law, a columnist for The Washington Post, and a regular political commentator on Fox News.

The Hugh Hewitt Show (radio)
Hewitt's nationally syndicated radio show, The Hugh Hewitt Show, is broadcast from California from 6 to 9 am EST on weekdays. The show appears on more than 75 stations[23] and is syndicated by the Salem Radio Network. Beginning April 4, 2016, the show moved to a morning drive time slot.[24] Although Hewitt's background is in law, government, and politics, he also covers American cultural trends and the entertainment industry. He frequently critiques the mainstream media on air, often inviting journalists to defend their work on the show. His regular contributors include law professors John C. Eastman, former Dean of Chapman University School of Law, and Erwin Chemerinsky, erstwhile Dean of UC Irvine Law School and current Dean of UC Berkeley School of Law (whom Hewitt calls "The Smart Guys"), James Lileks, Mark Steyn, United States Naval Academy English professor David Allen White (who does a monthly Shakespeare showcase),[needs update] and Congressman David Dreier (R-CA), as well as frequent callers from around the country. He used to spend the 15th hour of the week discussing movies with "Emmett of the Unblinking Eye".

It was my honest reaction to that clip. My first reaction was positive. But then I asked myself, was it proportional? Was the BS he reacted to any more or less egregious than what you hear all of the time? Why now? I thought it was an over reaction. I continue to be somewhat suspicious. There must be more to it. That is all. This is nothing personal about you or this being your post. Never entered my mind.

I didn't say it was. As a matter of fact, it was your lack of discrimination on that point which was your mistake.

^^ THIS. ^^

An even shorter version of his conservative bonafides:
  • held 4 positions in the Reagan administration
  • been a conservative talkshow host since 1990 and broadened into other forms of media

Probably been 15-20 years ago I listened to Hugh interview Dick Van Dyke. It was radio gold, Hugh brought out the best in DVD and he really enjoyed telling stories.

It moved me so I wrote a short e-mail to HH telling him how much I enjoyed it. He replied promptly and bragged on DVD too, it was genuine.

HH often refers to his wife on his show and always calls her The Fetching Mrs. Hewitt. He is one of the good guys and I think the walk off was perfect. Make a scene and call attention to that lying dumbass. It shut that lameass show right down when he left too.

HH is doing his part to MAGA!

I would suggest that he was observing behavior that surpassed typical media bias. Extremely intellectually dishonest to present that story as if the system was working as designed and Trump was up to election denying shenanigans. Actually kind of the opposite of what is happening in Bucks county and Hewitt had little choice but to speak up.

Nick, HH has been pushing back on the media for many, many years. This is not his first rodeo. I’ve been listening to him for a few years now and his response is consistent with his radio show and columns. He’s had DJT on his program a few times this election cycle.

Hewitt is one of the lone conservative pundits in an industry that's overwhlemingly liberal, if not Leftist. To call-out Hewitt as being 'too little, too late' is a demonstration of not knowing the issues and the societal points-of-friction we're currently in. He's picked his battles but more often than not, he's made his voice known and is a favorite amongst conservatives through a variety of outlets..

People like Hewitt are no different than other news figures and motion picture actors who hold similar views, they exist behind enemy lines, absorb mountains of abuse and slights not because they're gluttons for persecution and mistreatment but, they're good at their job and they enjoy the work. Without any conservative voices in these industries, than the 'other side' has won, they're free to dictate without any pushback, without any voice against the orthodoxy, then you have an environment like Mother Jones, Democracy Now or, your local antifa meeting.

Hugh Hewitt interviewed Donald Trump in 2016. He was dismayed that Trump did not know what "the nuclear triad" was. So for a while during the primaries he did not support Trump.
But when it came to the general election, Hewitt's point of view was "This is a binary choice". That stuck with me. I hadn't been a Trump supporter and was not a strong supporter up to the election. But Hewitt's coming down at the end to encouraging people to vote for Trump--given the awful but real choice--made a difference for me and many others.

Hewitt has chosen to try to live in the belly of the beast so that their listeners/viewers/readers get a conservative point of view that is not from a Never-Trumper or a faux conservative like Jennifer Rubin. There is honor in doing that, and it is not easy. Nor has he "evolved" to conform to his colleagues, a la David Brooks.

But it was probably inevitable that he would not be able to last through this horrendous election season.

Hewitt is not my favorite conservative radio host/podcaster, but I've learned a lot from him over the years. For one thing, he introduced us to Larry Arnn and Hillsdale College, and now we are regular donors.

‘Mystified’ liberal PBS news commentator loses it over Trump’s strong performance on election night
    By Ryan King
    Published Nov. 6, 2024, 1:16 a.m. ET

Liberal PBS News commentator Jonathan Capehart was left aghast at the preliminary election results suggesting that former President Donald Trump is in a strong spot.

“There’s a shift right and then there’s a shift to Trump,” Capehart vented on the program. “I am mystified in some ways simply because we’re talking about a twice-impeached, four-times indicted, convicted-on-34-felony-counts former president.”

    Branhahahahahahahahaha!

Maybe in some weird way Jonathan, the fact that Trump was indicted four times made him more like us.
