Jim ShugartRecommendations for EVOO?
I'm getting low on olive oil. Do any of y'all have any particular favorites?

HerkdriverCalifornia Olive Ranch is about the best bang for your buck out there.

mkuefferI always have the Costco/Kirkland jug in the pantry. Some folks will not use it fast enough, but we have never had issues, may be that we cook with it enough.
Have tried specialty stores, but costs more flavor is close to the Kirkland. Keep a few for finishing drizzle.

brecaidraLate to the party, but another vote for California Olive Ranch here.
I keep seeing articles about many olive oils being fake, even some of the pricey Italian ones.

Jimbo54A lot of fake or diluted olive oils out there, primarily from Europe. California Olive Ranch is certified by the state to be pure virgin olive oil. We buy it for that reason alone.

I recall that a year or so ago there was a test of many brands of olive oil, many of them well known brands. A high percentage were found to be adulterated with low cost oils and were not pure olive oil. One brand that passed every test for being pure olive oil was Costco’s Kirkland brand.

mark_aWe use Costco for day to day stuff and California Olive Ranch for salad dressings and when we are making chilled soups etc...
I have a customer in Redding that I see a couple of times a year. I usually take time to detour somewhere near the Chico area to hit some of the farm stores and get a bottle or 2.

corsairIf you're looking for general use, Costco's works well, they usually have a double-gallon and there's another one that's a step-up they source from Italy. Not all Costco's carry the Italian variety, just gotta know the store's in your area.
If you go to olive oil boutique stores, you can find specifics that work for your pallet that go well with either salads or, meat.

In my experience, it’s better to order California Olive Ranch EVOO (at least the Arbequina variety) directly from California Olive Ranch, rather than from Amazon. Faster delivery, and I believe it was less expensive, too.

Arbequina 500ml (16.9 oz) is $20 + shipping direct, but both Safeway and Target have it for $14

GustoferI've been using imported stuff from Greece for awhile, but based on the last thread about this, picked up some of the Costco stuff. Initially it was pretty good, but the jug went rancid in about a month. I wasn't pleased.

It's $12.80 on Amazon Prime but it's out of stock for a couple of weeks.
