My wife says I get her the most romantic gifts.

For Christmas this year, I'm giving her WeatherTech floor mats for her car.

What are you getting your better half?

Since his Sweet Bride was always talking of 'sets' of kitchen items, decades ago 'someone I know' made a tactical error estimating the humor factor in gathering (at great effort) the entire collection of the then-rather-new-to-market) of the dozens of varieties of Rice a Roni....

Floor mats would have been a better choice.

I let David Truong design some nice anniversary gift earrings that my wife decided could cover her Christmas gift also.
David did REALLY good work.

I bought her all the stuff she put in her Amazon wish list. My kids wrapped it. On Christmas morning it will be a surprise to both of us what she got since I honestly don't remember.

I bought myself a case of ammo.
She got a Brothers Computerized sewing machine.
She now has six machines or maybe seven.

my wife has been complaining about her iPhone 6 lately - it's been shutting off and shit. apps haven't been opening, etc. so i hopped on the local classifieds and grabbed a new iPhone 8 for $600.

She has no clue, and I'm excited.

One year I gave her a new closet.
I had California Closets come in, measure and make up several plans. That was in the gift box and she chose what she wanted.
Was well received.

Complained that it was hard to reach to the back of pantry shelves. Converted them all to slide out. She is very happy.

My wife is very practical with her wish list. Crafting tools, kitchen upgrades, etc. I'm the same way.

I think if a couple (beyond the first few years) is trying to "make up" with elaborate romantic gifts on Christmas, there might be something wrong the rest of the year.

Yup, I'd agree with that.

Wifey got that new 'lectric stove and she loves it. Defies male logic, but she's happy and we all know how that works.

I bought myself the mini-lathe I've been putting off for 4-5 years. Neat toy and opens up a whole new list of things I'll "need" for lathe tooling.

I am the romantic type also. She is getting new mini blinds for the house (along with some other, nicer things).

I picked up another refurb when I had my old refurb fixed, (dropped it, got a thread about it here somewhere)

told her I got the extra so she could use it around the house,

she was not impressed, not cause it is a refurb, she is just about anti tech, if we could go back to 1878 (and still have the hallmark channel) she would be happy, mostly

however, true Christmas presents,

pair of booties
pair of tall leather boots,
2 nice vintage cast iron door stops (she collects these)
and a Christmas cat type shirt,

and I baked her and her mother a nice big fluffy looking Gluten Free Coconut Cake,

Got my wife a full set of Weather Tech floor liners and the front/rear side window deflectors for her 2017 VW Golf Wolfsburg. I cheaped out and didn't get the rear cargo liner though, so she had to get that one herself. Overall, a very wise and useful gift purchase.

We both agreed to skip Christmas presents this year. Instead, we're planning some kitchen upgrades and new carpet in the living room and dining room. I went ahead and got her a Shinola watch anyway. She'll probably return it. Oh, well.

I got her a smart watch. She has been interested in them for a while and I have been talking them down to keep her from getting serious about getting one.

She is off to visit the grandkids and work kept me from going so I hid it in with the grandson's presents and my son pulled it out when she got there and will put it under their tree.
