It probably wouldn’t matter, but you could just turn it on and run the battery dead before you return it.

My neighbors car had a faulty remote starter. The car would start at random times and go thru the warm up cycle and then shut down. He saw his gas mileage take a hit and thought someone was siphoning his tank!

I had a Dewalt palm sander turn on by itself once. Bad part was it was sitting on my hardwood living room floor when it did. (WHY it was plug in and sitting on my floor I don't recall, perhaps doing drywall)

Reminds me of a Twilight Zone I saw once, based on a story by Bradbury, I believe. Started with the razor, ended up with a full scale electric device uprising. Don't go near the microwave.
